Hey all,
Ran into another issue with my other XB9S. I was riding on the highway one day and out of the blue the RPMs spiked and I wasn't getting any power to the rear wheel. At first I thought my belt had snapped so I quickly got over and tried shifting down but couldn't. It would go between 4th and 5th but wouldn't go any further down. I could pull in the clutch and roll just fine.
Prior to this issue, when I bought the bike it had a horrible rattle/knock, found out the heads/cylinders were severely scratched up, replaced those and new gaskets and it was running well. The only other issue I had not resolved was when shifting, I would have to slightly push down/up the shifting lever to be able to shift again as it was not returning to "neutral". It appears as though the bike at some point in its life was dropped on the left side as there are small scratches here and there and the shifting linkage was broken when i bought it.
I went ahead and opened up the primary and tore it down, teeth all good, chain appears fine, shifting lever has all its springs. I can rotate the wheel but other than that I don't know what I'm looking for. From searching other topics it sounds like I will probably have to split the cases to check out the transmission but is there anything I can check out prior to doing that?
The bike has less than 3k miles on it but based on this issue and my prev. one, I would assume it was rode pretty hard or the orig. owner was an idiot
Thanks
