Suggestions while I'm in there?

So after replacing my voltage regulator and battery on my XB12Scg, my fan decides to die. Looks like some oil residue in it, which leads me to believe that the rocker gaskets need to be replaced. This looks like a big job, at the end of the day. Rotating the engine, etc. Probably take me a while to do on my own as a first timer. While I have the bike all apart like that, my thought is to kill many birds with one stone. I'd like to do all of the following things....let me know if I missed anything on this list:

Replace fan (have one on order)

Replace rocker gaskets (where's the best place to get these?)

Replace spark plugs (why not, right? Which ones to use?)

Replace O2 sensor (under $15, why not?)

Replace air filter (probably with K&N filter)

I'd like to do the air box delete and breather mods

And at this point, I'd probably make some exhaust decisions. At the bare minimum, mine is rusting so I'd like to clean it up and paint it. I've also entertained the idea of an aftermarket muffler, but the cost is a big obstacle. If I just clean it up and repaint it, do you guys have any suggestions for what to use?


I know that's a bunch of questions all in one post, but I wanted to get it all down in one spot for reference. Thanks for any replies....you guys are awesome.

That's about it. Just check everything out. Unless you want a 1250 kit:love_heart:There isn't much maintenance on a XB so avoid the "might as wells" so you can get it back together and ride it!

That's a pretty inclusive list. You might go ahead and replace the spark plug wires while you are at it. I used iridium plugs in my XB12Ss (NGK DCPR9EIX) and I went with the wires from Iron Machine (https://www.ironmachine.com/). But, there are plenty of other options as well. As always, lots of good info on here that you can find in searches. Keep us posted on the project!
