I'm finally thinking of swaping out my road rash swing arm off my 05-12R.
While looking around I see a few for the 9R-is it compatible for the 12 or must I use
The same swing arm?
I searched around a little for this answer, but lost patience,so forgive me if I missed the obvious -

I want to do what Xtremelow did and get the SCG (I think) Swingarm.

it's a direct bolt up, but you'll have to make a few mods (longer brake line and he put a lowering block in for the rear shock, but it's not neccisary if you don't lower the front)

all 05 and older swingarms are the same the only thing that is not the same is the color. The 06 and newer swingarms will also work as long as it is not for a SS, TT, and X/XT.

I think Xtreamelow used a Ss swing arm and stretched his out, he needed a custom bracket/spacer to correct the mounting point of the shock.

no it should be the same length as the standard s and firebolt.

the only difference for the Scg (or in my case the Low)
is the forks are shorter and the rear shock is shorter and has a shorter spring in it (yellow), blue are standard length springs, white are 09 and up Ss and Super TT, black are the pre 09 Ss (not sure about this one so anybody in the know please correct me because it may also be white) rear springs, and silver is on the uly X and XT

the fork diameters changed over the years too (not that it matters in this thread but maybe it will help others)

41mm was standard for all models up until 05 when they were upgraded to 43mm with the exception of the low and Cg that remained 41mm to the end. the 1125 bikes are all 47mm. sorry I don't know about the uly bikes other than in 08 they became 47mm but I don't even know when the model was introduced or what the forks were.
the swingarms were all the same length with the old style and then there was the uly arm the Ss\TT arm then the S CityX Bolt and SCg were all the same

or at least that's what I think it was off the top of my head...

Thanks delta [up]
I think I'm gonna try to find another 12r swingarm& a new set of headers while im at it.

If you go from '05 to '06 with the swingarm for the newer design that is more angled you will also need new oil lines. Everything else is the same but the oil lines are different lengths and the ends are different.

I mounted a Ss '09 swing arm in my '03 and had to do a Ss belt and do a custom bracke and oil lines otherwise it all bolted right up.

So anyway just so you know you will need diff oil lines (custom) newer stock won't work since the timing cover was also changed.

You can see in the pic I used the front part of the stock oil line and then used braided lines for what length I needed to each port.

Nice one extremelow- Im gonna swap out that scg shock I got from you when I do the new swingarm . Waiting for a gb exhaust& trying to find new or custom headers too...
Now I'm working on a shop space, & I can enjoy the scg while tearing down the R.;)

Another slightly off topic question, I don't need to start another thread fir a silly one right?;)
Will 04 headers fit my 05-? Both are 12 R bikes ...

check O2 sensor locations but the rest should be the same, I think the engine was updated again in 07 so it should be ok but I would do more looking into it because I am not sure.
