Hey guys, newbie here--please forgive my ignorance. I have an 07 XB12R that i recently installed a Jardine can on...the noise is sick! I had read up on the topic here and other sites, and opted for the Jardine. The problem is the oil line going into the swingarm upon re-installation(had to remove OEM cradle for the can, and slide oil line out of it). I might not have tightened it enough for it leaks, very slightly over the course of the day while sitting(not ridden), but I am wondering how tight this damn bolt needs to be--I was afraid of over tightening it, as it appears that particular joint may need to move a bit with the suspension of the swingarm? Do I need to seat it completely? I dont want to strip it or over-stress it. Ideas?

The manual states 30lb/ft (29-31lb/ft) for oil lines.
That's pretty tight. Hard to check too unless you have a claw foot open socket.

a bit of grease and just tight enough without using excessive force....about handtight + 1/4

Just an update...sorry for the delay. Couple of Air Force deployments and such, the issue fell to the wayside. I tightened the bolt, not to excess-hard too judge without tools to check the torque. I dabbled with it, eventually stopped leaking. Moved to indiana, stored for the winter and come this spring it was leaking again. Tightened yet again and small piece of rubber o-ring protruded. EH. Bike headed to shop for rear brake light inop...had them look at it. Dealer says "new swingarm" and i went lightheaded. Stated there had been an issue with those bolts or something to that effect. Reason for the swingarm replacement was eventually the bolt had stripped the swingarm thread, either because i over tightened, or it was one of those bolts the dealer spoke of. Said he had replaced several due to that. At any rate, 456 bucks for the swingarm--ole' boy said this ones on Buell. Hopefully story remains the same on pick up day! LOL
