My bike has been out of commission all week as I've found that just about every plug has been stripped out in the swingarm due to PO incompetence. I have found a new to me swingarm to put in it's place and was planning on doing the swap this weekend.

My question is to anyone that has done any kind of swap or removal. Do you have any tips or advice on things to do or look out for that helped or hurt you along the way. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
 
it's pretty straightforward....I loosen all the necessary bolts a couple turns while it's on the ground (swingarm axle, wheel axle, shock bolt, caliper bolts, oil plumbing, brace etc) , then jack under the rearward end of the muffler to get the rear wheel just off the ground then pull the wheel, caliper, oil lines, shock bolt and finally the motor/swinger axle...reverse process to reassemble, and torque everything down once its able to be off the jack...
 
It is very easy to do. If you have a factory manual, it will walk you right through it. It took me 6 or so hours the first time, with the majority of the time double checking and re-reading the manual. Overall, It is a fairly easy process and not hard at all.

Get some bungee cords to hold the rear brake caliper and front right foot peg assembly. That way you don't damage the brake lines and can just hang them in place. Wrap them with something so they don't scratch the bike when they move around.

I bought my Buell used and it had been crashed just right to damage the rear axle. The rear axle was distorted and ground down so that it cut/stripped the threads when it was unscrewed. I could have saved the threads from being stripped, but a cheap swing arm off of Ebay saved time & aggravation. Not to mention it wasn't damaged from a crash. So it was a win/win for me.
