How to switch from 04 swingarm with three oil lines to newer swingarm with one oil line. Both firebolt, so no change in length. Belt and brake line, shock, everything else should be good right?

Searched everywhere and couldn't find anything on this

the newer swingarm doesnt have just one oil line, it also has three. But your main problem is going to be that the lines for an 06+ swingarm arent going to link up to your oil pump. Youre going to have to either have someone make them for you or make them yourself... If you have some more questions let me know as Im currently doing this myself.

Hmmmm looking underneath saw one line coming out of pump I thought. As long as it can actually be done ill Get my swingarm and take it from there. Get it in pieces and see what it looks like.

The oil pump has two lines that come out on the rear portion and one on the front portion. The older style lines will obviously fit the pump, but arent long enough to reach to the hookups on the new swingarms. But yeah it can be done, just needs a little custom work.

OK so is my dads 07 ss long different then. Let me explain what I'm seeing

One line out of oil pump going to swingarm. Only one hookup in swingarm

So if I swap what to do with other two oil lines coming out of swingarm?

OK this thread helped. Your thread haha.

I should be able to figure it out with fittings, and swingarm and bike in pieces.

If you could take a picture of the rear swing arm and where the oil lines are I'd like to see that. I was under the assumption all had three lines.. The return, feed, and one other.. Can't remember the name right

The 06 lines will bolt right in. You only need to change the breather fitting that goes into the cam cover. As long as the cam cover is the same one you have, it's that easy. The front pulley cover will require mods, or put an 06-07 cover on there. You will be rerouting an oil line next to the #77 connector. It's 07 or 08 when the oil pump changed, as well as the cam cover. Here's pics of mine. Not too clear, but you can check my profile for more pics of my swing arm conversion.

Actually I think I'm going to go a different route after talking to HD about the lines today. Of course the availability is NOT GOOD. so this may be a more affordable route

Get fittings for swingarm. Fittings for pump(if needed)

Fittings for can cover if needed

Then get oil lines here.

And finish it up from there. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Jakestolar: Yes it is. It's a flat cover that I made. I painted it black, then put it in the CNC mill and machined a radiation symbol into it. Because of the extra oil line in the #77 connector spot, I made a whole new pulley cover. The new cover is made of 3/8 aluminum rod, bent and welded. Photo below.

GOduc: Yes, the fittings are the important part. My oil lines came with my swing arm, so I simply chose the path of least resistance.[cool]

Just curious as to why you would want to change to a newer swingarm, unless of course the old one is damaged?

hink the new design swingarm lines flow alot better

Agreed 100% lines flow better. Also, now my 2004 will look like anywhere from 06-07 until they switched engines in 2008

Many thanks og9bolt and you too Goduc.

Nice looking bikes in those pictures, is that your bike oh9bolt? I think the newer swingarm might be stiffer as well, the sections look beefier and there is definitely more meat and an extended web down by the axle - and you're right, it looks better too!

No not my bike just random bike I found on google, click my name and I have pics on my page and the links at the bottom.

Mine is an 05 R with an 07 STT/Uly swingarm for the longer wheelbase and the short frame steering geometry.
