My tail chop was done some time ago, but I figured I'd post a couple of pictures to help out others interested in doing their own chop.

I have probably about 30 hours of labor in the tail. I took my time (I did it in the dead of winter) with a whole lot of grinding, filing and sanding. When I was done, I used several coats of gloss black rustoleum. Once that was completed, I used black plasti-dip on the lower portion to match the matte surface of the undertail.

Lightning guys will recognize the turn signals - they are stock front units. I made all the brackets and wiring.

The bottom of the tail is completely flat, which made a perfect cutout for the license plate light.

Well, just figured I'd share a little.

I started working on mine yesterday. I am making a new one instead of cutting my old one up. I am going to do LED strip breaklight/taillight/turn signal combo inside a fiberglass trim piece, and the under side will be metal so it keeps the strength and I can mount the license plate to it.

I am working on a tail with LED inserts made from casting... but this will take some time. Any interests let me know, as more quote as cheaper it gets

I'm interested BKKBuell, pm me with some pics when you get to that stage.

did this about 4 1/2 years ago and it still holding up well, going to change the stock turn signals as soon as i find something that looks good on it...you can see the license plate light has also been relocated as well. used 2 strips of .040" sheetmetal to make the brackets, they are about 4" long, 1" wide to hold the license plate, only 2 screws hold it in place, the spikes are just decorative.
