For safety I always try to make my tail light brighter. I took the plastic reflector "bowl", where the light bulb is and painted it a chrome silver finish for more light reflection. I then took out the bulb and went to the auto parts store for replacement. The original bulb says its only 5 watts and the parts store's lowest one was 6.5 watts. To make it worse they had killer LED bulbs but they took way more watts that 5. Any suggestions as to making my light brighter? Are there plug in LED's for my 12R?

I am confused. I already have the the XB light. I want to find out where to get either 5 watt replacement bulbs or an LED that fits in the stock socket. I see ASB has a complete housing/bulb assembly but I was wanting to walk into a local vendor for a bulb(if possible). I am old school and like to support my local guys, although I have also used ASB(great folks)

UMDterp13 is referring to www.XBLights.com
You can find a quick link to them at the bottom or side of this page. They will definitely have something brighter!
What auto parts store were you at?
Which others have you tried?
I would imagine an LED replacement bulb would draw less wattage than the original.
Least that's how it's worked for me with replacement turn signals. I had to use resistors to make the LEDs function properly.

Wattage is a formula of volts*amps= watts Ergo, 5 watts is 5/12=0.41 amps

Please define "way more watts that 5"

standard bulb is 7528, auto zone about 5 bucks a pair...but you're looking for something brighter, plug n' play....xblights[up]...there's pics on the buellxb fb page of a guy in Japan that sanded down the inside of the tail light lens, removed all the ridges inside... although he did it to show off a custom Buell aluminum emblem through the tail light, it was much brighter.

Mrlogix, that's what the parts guy said, I should have looked at them myself. Will go back to the Auto Zone and look myself. Would like to stay with the stock light but a brighter bulb(I always do things the hard way!). Thanks everyone
