Wow you'll be really happy you did. Do you not have an owners manual? You can search google and find one it will give you really simple instruction on how to set up your suspension.

Mines a 2004 xb12s but still, it's the same, even for the xb9's i believe

oh yeah, as for the rear suspension you should have a tool kit that's under your seat (most likely) that has the special tool for the spring. I just mention that because it took me a minute to figure that out when i bought my bike
