I was reading through another post and instead of posting there I wanted to make a separate thread so everyone could see and give me response.

So I have been riding bikes for a few years now and I just got my first buell in november. After being out on a couple of rides I love the feeling of leaning in corners. But I want to make sure I am doing it right because I don't want to lean too much and loss all my traction. I also want to get those ugly chicken strips off my tires.

So please any advice on where to position my body in comparison with the bike would be great. What I did the last few rides was put more of my body into the lean than the bike...is that good?

Well I'm no pro but did take a race school once and this would be my best advice find a race school near you and you will learn alot. Second well look where you want to go not where you think you might end up, you can move your weight a bit off the seat in the direction of the turn. Other then that how do you make your corners? do you use counter steering? Do you put more weight on your inside foot? etc... But again I'm no pro and my best suggestion is take a race school it will be the best money spent on a bike and the most valuable power upgrade.

I say don't rush it, it's a Buell, so the strips will go the more you ride. It's when you get that "invincible" feeling is when you can get into trouble.

The top middle is the way NOT to lean. Main thing is sighting you're exit and have the center of your body to the inside of the curve when compared to the center of the bike; as in the bottom 2 techniques. Also, little to no throttle entering, and smooth throttle on exiting.

yeah that diagram is what sparked this my questions. I know it takes time to learn how to do it and so some basic techniques would help me a ton! Just riding my bike this past weekend was so fun going into corners. So different from my cruiser I had but once I learn how to lean in the corners I am sure my buell will be that much more fun!

In comparison to the pictures above i would say i was doing a little bit of the top left pic and the top right pic but obviously with a lot less lean!

just don't point your knee out, like alot of riders do to get that knee on the ground...(a good way to loose a knee-cap)

push the inner knee forward and shift bodyweight a bit with only half a buttcheeck off the seat.

The third diagram pic is the one to remember. I swear it feels more controlable in that position than any other. I started out doing the 2nd pic manuever, but realized that losing it meant high-siding at any speed. The 3rd pic keeps you near the ground, should anything go wrong!:D
