Well today marks the end of chapter one in the book of my motorcycles. I bought my first non Buell today. 2015 Yamaha FZ-07 from Flemington Yamaha/EBR. I love everything about it, it closely resembles my CR in spirit. I hope to one day own an EBR but for now the FZ-07 will do me well. Put 20 miles on it today, and will probably do close to 7k by the years end. Pics to follow! otherwise it never happened.

Good for you. I always say that there are just too many good bikes out there to limit yourself to just one your whole riding career! That FZ-07 looks like a lot of fun too!

I was looking at one of those the other day when i made a stop at a yamaha dealership. Its a 700 twin. How does it compare to your buell?

It has been a while since I rode my 1125 (since October) but from what I remember this has the same feel as far as torque and riding position. Obviously the CR was much quicker and probably about 20mph faster (need to wait for the break in to finish). I would compare it to my old XB9R. I was riding a Buell Blast for the last 3 months and 3k miles, its much more comfortable and its nice to have mirrors that you can actually use because of how smooth it is. My only complaint, it is SUPER quiet! The blast is probably about twice as loud stock for stock. I see an Akrapovic exhaust in the future after the warranty is up).

A friend of mine has the fz09. Its a great bike. Not sure how the 7 compares. As far as exhaust he has had an akrapovic on order all year and finally canceled it, going to go with a full graves exhaust instead. You may want to look into them as well.

I would compare it to my old XB9R
I think that's a fair comparison. The new FZ-07 looks quite ethically-comparable to the old NT650gt or SV650; two bikes I'm familiar with & which I also liken to the XB9...

Good looking bike! [up]

Ran with a guy on a fz8 once. That thing would scoot. Kept up with my 1125 most of the time. I'd imagine the fz7 is similar.

All in all I think you made a smart choice. Those are really awesome bikes.

Just put 120 miles on the FZ today, went up to Bethlehem, PA for the Musik Fest. Hung out for a few hours and went home. Filled up my first tank since taking ownership. 156 miles on the tank only took 2.233 gallons. Could have easily made it to 200 miles. I love the bike! Two up riding is great as well. My GF just wants to see if I can get a more comfortable seat as after about 50 miles it gets uncomfortable. As for me, it is allot more comfortable than the Blast. However I would like to see about getting something similar to the select seat that I had on my 1125. More updates to come! First service is 400 miles away.

Stopped by my Yamaha/EBR dealer (4 miles from my house!!) to get some chain lube (first chain driven bike so go figure I didn't have any chain lube). Look what they have...
