Does it bother anyone else when 600cc owners make the displacement argument? Yet they fail to acknowledge their engine has water cooling, twice the RPM range and twice the cylinders.

Happened to me today. Dude you have a 1200cc bike!

Its so hard for me not to argue.

They all argue it. Then i point out that screaming eagle has been winning in the drag bike races for years. With 2 less cylinders.

Being a rider who owns a couple of 4 cylinder bikes, twins, and even a single cylinder supermoto makes these arguments sound even dumber to me..... I couldn't care less that a 600 will beat a 1203 buell...

I'm always like... You really think I care that your little 600 will beat my 984 vtwin in a drag race??... My great grandma can drive fast in a straight line in her old ass LTD... Let's take both our bikes on a really curvy road and see who finishes first...

I see the buells dominating in the drag races and that does go to show they can kill the I4's when a lot of work has been done to them... But out in the real world, no vtwin will ever stand up to a I4 as far as power output... That's why they allow displacement advantages for vtwins in motogp...

No offense, but don't get me started on the handicap the sanctioning body put on the I4 bikes to allow the screaming eagle bikes to be competitive. However, this season, the sanctioning body saw it fit to even out the playing field, and suddenly the screaming eagle bikes have yet to make it to the semis.

IMO many riders only know about a 600 vs 1000. So when they see that you have a 1200, they assume your bike should be able to orbit the moon. It simply doesn't work that way.

^^You described that perfectly!!! Happens so much I have just given up on continuing that convo and just let them think what they think..
