The "eyes" have it

Has anybody done anything about the crappy plastic inserts that make up the "eyes" on a XB/R? The plastic looks pretty crappy and poor quality and no amount of stuff I put on it makes it look any better. Has anybody painted theirs? I can't match sock colors so if I have a "cherrybomb" color what would be a good color to paint the inerts? I know, not a worthy question but it's raining and I'm on vacation and have nothing better to do.

those plastic inserts are so fragile to.. i plan on doing the carbon fiber ones like xtreme i hate the way mine look.

The plastic looks like is has been sitting in the sun for years and is dry and brittle. Even if I prime it and paint them black it would be much better.

Mine were faded just like you mentioned. i painted them gloss black to match the fairing and it looks way better now!!

the eyes/lights do look like johny5. funny also from a certain side angle the R fairing with the mirrors looks like a wasp head ,hell the whole bike body(without wheels) you got the torso, & then tail n sting, sorta like a little mean cartoonish angry wasp ready to fly fast and sting you.

i dont care for the dull off color plastic look either, can be a bitch to clean, especially when bugs have dried & baked on from the sun & hot air, thier dehydrated & stuck on like , bug jerky.
the carbon fiber looks good on yours extreme & on some others, but it just dont look good on every bike, to much like other bikes n cars for my taste,..

would like it if there was no inserts just the lights, seen this somewhere when they took a race fairing & cutout hole for lights. or may look good if the insert had little different shape & an entire headlight similar to the 1125R. or if the inserts was metal and matched the color of the frame.

My next paint job will be very subtle but I am going to retain the CF brow and with my new paint I will change out the color behind to accent the CF brow. Most like like a metallic silver or green.
