what does everyone think of the heat isue? Do you get hot ankels and or a hot seat. I understand that the heat comes mostly over 80 degrees outside tempature and in slow travel like bumper trafic.

Is this a concern for bike owners??

I don't know about the r, but one my s it aint so bad. Mostly it's my right leg (thigh area) that gets so hot. It feels good when its 30 degrees outside. I try to stay away from areas that are prone to traffic jams, I've been stuck in a couple and it sucks.

Hey guy, Check on the Ulysses Comfort Kit for the newer bikes maybe it will fit.The right side Air scoop/& a heat shield with a rear fan shroud . The shield will disperse the heat away from your right leg. What year is your Bike, model etc.? Theres a post on here, I Think Stevenc150 has some of the links . The Comfort Kit I put on my XB12R/2008 and the difference was great. I know American Sportbike has the parts. Make sure you get the large Scoop. Helps cool the rear cylinder as well. I got lucky and found mine at the Dealer.

I would go with the right side scoop definitely a must. The part numbers for the inner and outer parts are M0851.7aa and M0852.7aa, you will also need (3) additional screws ANI1005.3fss or just get 10x32x5/8 screws. The cheapest place I have seen to get it is from surdyke.com and lshd1.com; surdyke has them in stock I got the inner and outter for $42 and some change when my local hd quoted me for $82. You can get the heat shields for underseat and airbox from specops or make your own. I think the RSS will be all you need, I don't believe the shields are good for your bike trapping the heat, I'll take some of the heat to preserve my bikes longevity and the components under the seat.

My R doesnt take very long to get hot. It likes the open road, but really this is something that should have been vetted in the development of the bike.

This is my current set up, no heat issues anymore at the leg.

Thr comfort kit plus Special OPS heat shields for under the seat and extra sheilding I place in critical seat areas available from DEI have solved the heat issue completely even on hot days. Note that you will still feel heat if its 90 and you are at a long stop light. However it is not bad even then, just noticeable

You're sitting on top of a combustion engine. I rode mine in Miami last August and had no issues. Left leg hits up a bit. So what? After the "comfort kit" you gonna get a "comfort scooter seat", too?

Thanks Jon for the surdyke reminder, just ordered one. There was a big ole thread on this issue quite awhile back, some pics of said scoop installed as well for those interested in what it looks like.

The comfort kit helps a lot, as does getting the pipes ceramic coated. I went with the gold color, as it's supposed to do best job. It helped nearly as much as the comfort kit & looks good with the gold / bronze / grey / whatever color cases & wheels on my 07 Ulley. Cost about $180.00. I had tried the fiberglass tape earlier, it helped, but not as much as the ceramic.
