"THE PROBLEM" noone knows how to fix

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

No need to insult people. We're trying to help. I don't understand why you'd get upset with the forum. Be upset with your shitty dealership. The sad thing is most HD/buell techs have no interest in keeping buells on the road. It sucks to admit, but it's the truth. Most of the "buell techs" don't even work for HD anymore, leaving just HD techs to do buell work. I know more about buells than 95% of the HD techs, and so do a lot of people on here. Reading a manual isn't hard to do, that whats most of the techs do.

Baja, you should try to get them to put in a new fuel pump just for shits and giggles. It's free and it might fix your issue.

nothings free,,,and no i wont try to have them put anything else on the bike... it will stay in the shape it is in until it gets handed off to the next buyer.i have absolutley NO INTEREST in putting ANY more money into this bike..PERIOD

you say you dont want to waste any more money on it but you must be lossing out big time at $3,000 asking price OBO.

Did you have someone hook your bike up and do a datalog?

out of the hand full of "buell techs" I've met I am totally shocked that they can operate the fucking door knob to get into the shop, I'm sorry you caught such a shitty break, but seriously out of every 20 dealer techs (regardless of mfg) you may get one that really knows his shit..... and for me if the problem doesnt get fixed I wouldnt pay PIEROD.
food for thought motorcycles have become more and more complex over the last ten years employing the latest in technology, MC techs still make roughly the same wages they did ten years ago. you tell me is the dealer the place to go?

Glad you sold a headache, sorry we couldnt help, and that you lost so much money.... if you want headache free though I swear by HONDA. :D

i agree,it dosnt matter if its a lawn mower, generator, water craft, car, street or dirt bike if it says honda its top notch

if the guy wants to buy it for 3 grand and pay me cash... then im all for it... plus he knows whats wrong with the bike.. i told him.. and he was still excited... should be gone by this weekend..its my second bike... so if i didnt have my custom bobber to ride and add too I would be buying a honda...

hmmm, xb9sx with a d&d and race ecm... could be an issue of not enough back pressure, wrong air fuel/mixture. i've seen on here every one asking if its been tuned for your 900cc bike with the d&d on it.

from personal experience i had to get my fuel mapping re-done when i got a race muffler and ecm. but always had coughing and hiccuping issues at low rpm, so i took my bike to a race specialist and they told me that it was a matter of not enough back pressure at low rpm. so they tuned my bike to idle at 2500rpm. bike ran fine after that but didn't like the high reving all the time... so changed back to stock muffler and ecm.

sorry to hear you haven't had a good run with your bike.

hope it all works out for the new owner.

I'm having this exact same problem. Has been in the shop 4 times now. A new ECM, TPS reset, new clutch switch, checked wires and grounds, new spark plugs and wires, checked the fuel pump. It will run fine for maybe 15-20 miles and then the exact same thing happens every time. Harley shop is stumped and frustrated as am I.

As a general rule Harley technicians are fucking morons. Your about as likely to get your Buell fixed as if you had taken it to somebody who works on Victory or some other company building cruisers. I love HD to death, but their tech departments for Buell is absolutely garbage. But everybody is right this guy is going to have the bike tuned and it's going to run great. Fantastic deal for him on what, an hour's worth of work? It's Computerized for Gods sake. Can't expect to throw on a custom pipe and an ECM not turned for that pipe and expect it to run perfectly.

I have the same problems with my 07scg. Does anyone have a stock pipe that I could buy so I can test this out. When I bought my bike it had the D&D pipe and air re-route done already. Ever since I have had the bike it has hiccupped and wanted to stall at low rpms.(like starting from a dead stop). But I am curious and wanting to try two things. I would like to try putting a stock pipe on to see if it helps and I am going to take it to see if the D&D pipe can run right after a good dyno tune. If anyone knows where I can get a stock pipe for a reasonable price, please let me know. And even after all of the problems I have had, its the same way with any of my bikes that I have modified. I learned at a young age that if you want the bike to run right then leave it stock. But if you want more performance then you are probably going to have more headaches too.

ALrider, if you let people know your location, i'm sure someone here is able to get you a pipe and try.

otherwise, they are cheap and not hard to come by on ebay.

I am located in central Alabama. But yeah I found one on eBay that I might try. Thanks for the info. Lefox

It makes sense to me that the problem would be the tune. Consider that it runs well for 15 minutes or so. For some period of time, it's going to add fuel while it's warming up, like a choke. When it stops adding fuel, it goes lean, starts running like ass.

I know you said "NO MORE MONEY", but Im sure someone would have more than happy to trade straight across .....stock parts for yours and paid full shipping on both. Oh wait a miniute...........that would have taken effort and time. Glad to see someone else is willing to take on the task of getting that beast on a leash and showing it whos boss. And if your looking for extream reliability ......Ive heard scooters are the place to be......really......I even see Girls riding them....that means they have to be reliable or easy to work on at least.

i thought you sold it?if you really want it fixed ship it to one of us that can work on it or listen to some of the senior members advice.if your done with it sell it.we all have bikes that run if you dont listen to our advice why should we waste our time.if you need help pm me or ask another member for help.

I wonder if you could try choking off air to the intake to richen up the afr. Not sure if that would work, but it'd be free to try and could possibly be proof of concept.
Any naysayers?

Also, has anyone checked the overall health of the engine with a simple leakdown test? Compression test? Does the exhaust suck in? Free tests if you or someone you know has the tools. All the tuning in the world ain't going to fix a turd of an engine.
