Well, I've read a few threads on the topic and the arguments of doing the 1200cc big bore kit on the 9 vs just investing in a complete xb12 engine...well here is my question

If you bore the 9 to a 12 with the kit...could you run a 12 header and throttle body and use the 12 fuel maps only and keep the 9 timing maps...and have a base to make it run?

I figure displacement wise it's about the same so i don't see why you couldn't do that...I've actually been thinking about doing this. A quick revving 12 sounds like a blast!!

if your going through the money and trouble of boring out a 9 to a 12, then buying the 12 headers, and wanting the 12 maps to go with it all, Why not just get the 12 motor, and put the 9 gearing on it? I'd say it's be cheaper, and a lot less time consuming!

a 1200cc xb9 would have more power and torque than a stock xb12. a stock xb12 and xb9 have the same bore, just different stroke. I would say, yes you could start there with the map and tune.
