Think I accidently just traded my 'bolt

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

If cost isnt an issue, keep the buell and get the duc. Those things are badass. If you already have eight bikes, why not nine. And yeah, cool wife.

simple mate... dont do it.

you will miss your bike. the ducati is an awesome bike. i have a mate who has one and it goes like stink. handles well and is fun, and the missus might like the ride of hte ducati, but you will certianly and surely miss the buell and probably end up needing to get a buell and make the ducati the 2nd bike.

the buell is one of those creaturest hat you just cant help but love and enjoy.

good luck.

I think I read somewhere that when you trade a Buell in for another bike, everyone on the forum gets to ride your new bike, for quality assurance purposes of ccourse! :D

I'll be first!

it depends on what parts you need if you have to wait, it also depends if they can't get the parts from another dealership. there were two occasions when i did have to wait on parts from italy on my old ducati, and it took about a month before i got them. dont remember what it was though.

i was told on the newer engines its a 12-15000 mile valve adjustment, i had it done on this 98 750, and it was $950. thats no joke, it also sat in line at the shop for two weeks before they got to it.

ducati's are really great bikes, youre getting a ton of technology, and a great awesome bike.

i dont think the cornering ability is up there with sport bikes, i would however put it above the other "power cruisers" (vrod, vmax). if i was dipping into this market i would go with the diavel for sure.

I love the Diavel! Being 6"1 and 270 lbs the bike is ergonomicaly perfect for me. Love the sound, power, the unique looks. The only thing that scares me is the Ducati service intervals and pricing even though they say the Diavel has the new extended service intervals. By the way $5000 is a good trade in offer for a Buell as I was offered $3500 for my 09 SS with 7500 miles by my Ducati dealer!

I didn't read the other responses, but I think the Diavel couldn't be uglier. Rode with one towards the end of last season and couldn't find anything I liked about the appearance. But if it makes you happy, then best wishes.

here is my humble .01 on the topic

nice bike if thats what you like and can afford it,(seems like most of us are not liquid enough to afford such luxuries)
for me I can not wrap my head around the price, especially if its for something that is not really needed.

17,500 is half of what I need to get totally off the grid and use wind/solar and never have rely on a power company ever again

30-35 grand to get off BC Hydros tit [up]
adding yet another bike to the stable that I do not need [down]

thats just me tho, one idea makes sense, the other not so much.

enjoy whatever choice your going make, maybe go ride your eight bikes around to see if you really need the nineth
;)

Cool bike.

5k for your fire bolt is a decant deal if you have any after market parts pull them and put it back to stock.

Saw my first one last summer with a 2k exhaust and it was bad ass! Love the huge single sided swing arm with a stock 240 tire. MMM damn it was fast!

That was pretty much exactly what I was thinking. That price tag is just about what I paid for my 9 month old dodge ram (and it's not even a base model or anything).

In the end though, whatever makes him happy. I know if I had the money I'd buy a CTS-V, even though it's not "needed" lol.

There are quite a few on this forum who can afford a bike like that but choose to buy other things. Have you seen some of the trucks on here? I can justify a $17K bike but a $40K truck? :D We all have our toys, some are just more expensive than others.

That's true. Just depends on what you want and use. I only put a few thousand miles on my bike a year. I put 20+ thousand on my truck a year.

Years ago I spent thousands of dollars on RC cars....doh...(it was cool do wheelies and to go 80mph with an RC car though lol).

afford or finance?

huge-O-mongus difference there!
it is far too easy to become a slave to debt then it is to go to your bank and pull out $17,000+ of disposable $$$
(if your one of those that can, all the power to you.)

as for affording it, I am sure there are, the same lot that all bought the new EBR bike@ 40k when it came out..
..oh wait I have yet to see or hear that someone on this site has bought one..
[smirk]

from what I have read/seen on here during the past 3 yrs is that most of us work hard, play hard and do not have that kind of cash to throw around..

whatever the outcome I am sure Bullxb12r will be happy!
:)

Getting parts for a Ducati hasn't been in problem for me. At least from a Ducati dealer. In my opinion, service cost and hassles are vastly overstated when people talk about Ducati. It's not nearly as bad as people think.

Now that is out of my affordable and finance range. Heck my latest Alfa GTV is going to cost close to $35K when I get it out of paint and with the market the way it is I'll never see $25, oh well we do what we do :D
