ok. just been thinking. Im looking for a new bike as my xb9 just got totaled by insurance and im bout to be outta my cast. just love my buell but want some more top end. What all would be required to make an xb12 more like an xbrr including increase hp and top speed. obviously big bore kit, headwork, exhaust, race ecm, chain conversion, other race kit things, .... yall help me on what else

XB9r with xb12 throttle body is an easy start. Xopti was making something like 108 at the wheel with the 12 throttle body.

With a 12, you could put in the 9 pistons to raise your compression to almost 11:1 (iirc). That'd be a good start. Port and polish heads - the usual.

I'm going to check around and with ebr to see how to get them. I've got the part numbers and may run them by an HD dealer just to see if by anyway shape or form they still have them. If a racing licesne is needed to purchase them I will just get my buddy to go up there and buy them for me since he has one

thats bad ass. Im just trying to figure out the best way to make a stock 12 a more capable track bike. i mean i think the throttle body a big difference in that motor. besides prolly diff cams, heads, and maybe crank

The problem you will run into with the 12 is the fact that it has a long stroke. That limits it, whereas the 9 has a short stroke. If you look at the 1125, 1190, or another bike the powerful bikes have short strokes and can rev higher as well. Xb9 limits to 7,xxxrpm whereas the xb12 is somewhere around 6,800rpm

yeah ive noticed that. i mean my bike now is a 9r. but im prolly bout to buy a 12. the only thing im worried about with another 9 is that i wont be able to make the power numbers as easy. also do u know if the rr started as a 12 or 9 motor

the rr is based off a 9, due to the shorter stroke and higher rpm limitation. Erik himself has an xb9. I talked to him about his mods and he has a big bore, port and polish job, and is getting 115+ to the rear wheel. He, along with others, told me the reason why the 9 is a better motor to work off of. With the xb9, you can easily get more power than you could with a 12, but it depends on how much money you want to spend. Next winter I plan on getting a few things powder coated, dual throttle bodies, custom intake, big bore kit, port and polish the heads, upgrade the cams, maybe higher compression pistons (if possible), then an exhaust from somewhere probably from d_adams.

yeah. i mean i dont have a ton of money to throw round on it but itd be a work in progress. im getting more into track and just want it to have a lil more when i want it. cams, head work, and exhaust prolly goin be in my price range. i really just want the 9 to be up to 100 hp or so if i do tht

get the xb12 throttle body and headers, these are both larger than the standard 9s, and of course an open air box and K&N as well as an exhaust. porting the heads and such will be good too. Basically massage the engine to get more power, and on top of all that, TUNE IT!!!

well i mean my current one has k&n, tune, open airbox. the 12 throttle body prolly be good but havnt researched what all is need there. but not sure the bigger headers will add any unless displacement is raised

thanks buellerpilot. had that page up on my computer already actually. what yall think though. if i get another 9r. do intake, exhaust, and prolly cams and heads. what yall think power output would be?
