My front tyre is well worn and the rear is not far behind it. I'm still running the Pirelli Dragons, what tyres are you using ? Continentals seem the cheapest here in the UK followed by Pirelli, Bridgestonesare considerably more.

Which Ulysses version? I own the XT and went with sportbike tires, the Dunlop Sportmax Q3 front and Roadsmart Q3 rear. The Roadsmart is the Sport Touring version and gets a little better wear but I like the Sportmax on the front . I just replaced the front and the rear looks like it will go about twice as far, so about 3,000 mi for the front and close to 6,000 rear. These were pretty well reviewed as a best buy in a quality sportbike tire. There are cheaper ones that don't perform nearly as well and much more expensive ones that don't perform much better.

I don't have any recommendations for the X model Ulysses.

Thanks Steve yes it's an XT, sorry I should have mentioned that. I've only looked on line so far, the Pirellis exceed my ability so I may just go with what Buell supplied, I figure they know a lot more than me. I'm looking at around $240 a pair plus mounting and balancing for the Pirellis

Not sure what you have available, but the Michellin's RP3' have outlasted the Pirellis by 4.5K miles so far and I have a lot of tread to go. I commute in the very flat area's of Dallas Tx though so not sure how they handle in the curvy mountains? Maybe I'll take a trip to Arkansas and check them out.

I got a bargain at the bike show so still running the Pirellis.

I ran the Shinko Ravens for a while, got 11,000 miles on one set and almost the same on another set. The Shinko's handle well riding through local San Diego mountains. Have the Podiums on the bike currently, and seem ok, but have not gotten the mileage as the Ravens. My only grip with the Ravens is the wear in the center portion of the tire. It's very flat and squares the tire off. The Podiums have worn well, very even so far, but I'm really close to the wear marks. Time for some new shoes....

Shinko's as an alternative, cheaper in price, longer mileage...just my 2 cents

thrstmech, we should meet up for a ride sometime. My wife and I usually ride together, she following on the Harley, using bike to bike intercom to stay in touch, but she hasn't been going out as much lately. My favorites are: 1. Otay Lakes to Dulzura to Descanso to Lake Cuyamaca to Sunrise Hwy to Pine Valley-stop for lunch at Major's Diner, and 2. Lakeside to Barona to Ramona to Dudley's, then 79 to Borrego to 78 and back up Banner Grade to Julian, then Wynola Road to Wynola Pizzeria for lunch. A variation on this one is to go from Dudley's up the East Grade to the Palomar Observatory and then come home through Pala to I-15 but I just love that little stretch of Wynola Road.

PM me if you get bored riding alone.

Steve
