Tire reccommendations?

I really like the feel of Michelin tires on my bike and ride 90% canyons. I'm cheap and just get race take-offs from a local team.

Pilot Race 2ct on the rear for 40 bucks. I got 4500 miles out of the last one.
Pilot Race medium compound on the front for 40 bucks. I've put 4000 miles on it and still have a lot of life left.

never had any problems with traction, wet or dry, fast or slow.

Angels installed today. Went for a short ride to scrub them and my XB12S handles like dramatically better. Granted, the Conti's that were on it when I bought it were pretty worn but big difference. Corners much better.

thanks guys, i went with the pirelli angels myself and love them. great for weather in alberta

I run the tire that came stock on my XB9SX...the Scorpion Sync by Pirelli. I tried Dunlops once....not hating them, just think the Scorps are a better all around tire. They don't wear bad, but wish they'd last longer! (Of course!). You will get 50 different answers though....everybody is different when it comes to "feel"!! :p

I'm in the market as well, anyone have a list of all the dual compound tires on the market?

Normally I'd get the Tomahawks that I've used in the past and like but I ride so much straight road here in FL I always wear out the centers fast so wanting to see if a dual compound will help that issue. I'm told you can get up to about 10k miles on a dual compound tire. I was getting 5k on the tomahawks(centers worn out with meat left on the sides).

I had the ravens on my previous bike and they were'nt too bad. They seem to stick pretty good (never had them slide on me) but I didn't care for the profile very much. They made the bike slow to turn-in. I was MUCH happier with the Shinko Podiums I had before that. I got about 6000mi out of the rear before it was toast (Podium, never did wear out the Raven before I sold the bike).

"Shinko": tendst to be a dirt word on most forums I frequent. Lots of haters will tell you their crap but I'm willing to bet good money the overwhelming majority of them have never had them or blame them for a wreck that was their own stupid fault. They are a fine street tire and I've had no quality issues with any of them I've bought (5 tires so far). I would be hesitant to use them on a track bike as there is a number of proven tires out there for nearly the same price (Pilot Power). for street use though, they work fine.

you might look into the various sport/touring tires that are out there. So far I've been very happy with my Michelin Road2 and there are TONS of others with similar results as me.

completely agree i had the Shinko Stealth's on my TL1000r and were very sticky in the twisties, also had Shinko 005 on my GSXR 1000, great all around tire in wet and dry conditions

but you also cant go wrong with the Mich Pilot tires
