Just passed 5,000 miles on my '08 1125R and the rear tire is shot.

Looking for recommendations on new tires and if I should replace the front at the same time.

Appreciate the help...

How does the front look. My front still looked brand new when I needed a new rear so I got another diablo to match. I wouldn't mix brands or compounds just to be safe. replace both or stick with whats on front. I did go 190/50 though, just to try it out

Front is in good shape but I am not married to the Diablo. Willing to change both...

What did the change in size do for you?

just looks cool, I cant tell the differance in ride at all. I wanted to change to a dual compound tire set but I found the diablo for $130 and figured it had been good for the first 5000 miles so why not. When the front goes I will look into something differant, but I would rather spend my motorcycle money on mods then tires.

Did you have any issue with fit on the stock rim when going to the different size?

The Diablo III is pricy (>$200) for the rear...thinking of sticking with the Diablo changing model...thoughts?

I have Dunlop d616s on my 12r. They are very sticky and do phenomenal in the rain (which I seem to have a cloud that follows me). I have had 4 people this month tell me how badass they look on the bike. First time I have ever been complimented on tires lol

I had no issues with fitment, its an xb though. But I am sure the 1125 should be in same boat. pirelli states the 190/50 fits either a 5.5 or 6 inch rim so its brand recomended. You wont see any gains except for looks but I see no downside unless it makes a differance on the track. I personally didn't have any complaints with the stock diablo except for wear. and motorcyclesuperstore had it on sale for 130 (if you go through amazon you get free shipping)which sealed the deal for me. If it was me I would just buy a new rear and spend what you would have spent for a front on something else.

Just put a set of mich ct2's on my R and I'm loving every second of them..$250 front and rear from american motorcycle tire with free shipping. No complaints yet but it has only been a few hundred miles...

I generally go through two rears to one front. I keep the brand and model of the tire the same front and rear. So, when the front wears out, time try something different. I like my Dunlops.

I went with the Michelin 2CT's...a little over a thousand miles so far and happy to report no chicken strips and it made the 1125's lazy turn in much more responsive! I didn't like the Diablos and I loved the Metzler M3's on my XB12R. Was torn between the M5 and the 2CT, I think I made the right choice. Sticky from jump and havent worn as badly as people said they would. I am not expecting more than 4000 miles out of any sportbike tire, so we will see what the Michelins do. Definately recommend them for anyone that wants an 1125 to get into a curve better.

Ya another that went mich pilot roads
They are a much taller "center" profile tire so turn in is well... different
The Pirellis are a much wider and shorter proflie so the bike just mostly rocks side to side easily
But I like em so far, got the set from sportbiketrackgear for $250 I think

from what i hear you should get aroud 5500 to 6000 out the 2cts but i do agree the michelins grip much better than the pirelli's

Got an Pirelli Angel ST, and swapped them one-at-a-time. They Wear a WHOLE LOT better than the Scorpion Sync that came on it, and is grippy as hell. Love them and eded up putting one on the front the next year. 6000+ miles and still looks great with 0 problems...nothin but fun. Got a great deal at Motorcyclesuperstore.com and they are having a sale on them right now excellnt customer service and delivery too.

HOLY SH!T, and I was thinking of getting them, he's only 30 miles from me, and yes it is hot here, kinda old post, wonder if there is an update, did Michelin make good to him

It would be nice to know the outcome of that. It looks as though the outer shell of the tire wasn't bonded very well to the rest.
