OK! My friend (redliner172) and I are arguing about what tires we should get on our bikes. He rides the 1125R and I ride the Firebolt. He's sold on the Michelin Power Pilots/Pures and I'm sold the Metzeler Sportec M3. What do you guys suggest?

Oh, forgot to add this on there. We're looking for something that is good on the straits as well as good in the twisties. We agreed that we will never touch Shinkos. That tired cause redliner to highside.

i have to say pilot powers![up] I had dunlops on my zx7r the switched to the michelin pilot powers and it made a HUGE difference. Now I'm back to dunlops on my bolt and I can't wait to wear them out so I can put a set of pilot powers on!!!

Metzlers M3's! for grip, Michelin's and Perelli's are great too, I have Dunlop's but next week I'm ordering the Sportec M3.

I've run all 3. Pilot's. M3"s and shinko's. The pilots and M3's wore out really damn fast. The ravens performed and lasted well Where I RIDE!!. I can't tell you what works best for what and how ypu ride. Me....... it's twisties and 1000+ km day rides. They're all good tires, just depends where and how you ride........
The Raven's, however, impressed the hell out of me, good grip, good wear, and the yokohama standards that they purchased into.nI will definately consider Shinko's when it's time to reshoe.....[up]

I ride the 2nd set of Metzeler Sportec M3... great tire as long you look after the tire-pressure.

We use Bridgestone BT016. My wife and I are both on our second set...I just had new ones put on yesterday. Even better, the guy that I get them from charges me $220 for the set and $50 for mounting.

pilot power 2ct

paid 190 for the set, 30 per wheel for mounting.

things are incredible. super sticky.

I run Pirelli Diablos, I had some Dunlop Sportmax and the worked pretty well in the corners on the bolt and lasted forever. I think I got around 10k or more on the rear.

pilot powers are great, I don't lean hard enough to use the 2ct because it is so narrow on the edges.(but then again maybe if I had them I could trust my tires more.)
the down side was that wet grip SUCKED on down town city streets and changing lanes on the high way was always a butt puckering affair. but when the roads were dry, DAMN those tires stuck like glue!

I am currently wearing in a set of pilot road 2's and they are taking forever to wear in and feel greasy on turn in, I hope that after a while that changes and if not Ill be going back to powers or maybe try the new conti road attack 2

wet grip is very important to me because I ride in it a lot and the road 2's are one of the top rated tires in that category right now so I hope that the wear in process just sucks, I had read that it takes a long ass time on web bike world and at this point I would tend to agree.

I dont blame the shinkos on my highside. I blame gravel/cold air temps/cold road temps. The fact that I ride two-up alot also affected the tire. The Shinko 005 already has a flatter profile than most and riding two up made it worse.

Told you Justin, just like oil, everyone will recommend different things. Not knocking on the Metzlers but I know I can get the 2ct's for 203 dollars for the set. An already proven tire. Cant get M5's for that bro.

lol polkie, it was snareman that says I blamed them on the highside. It was a brand new tire when I got it. I have put 1500 miles on it and tread is nearly gone. They already do have a flatter profile than most tires but I should get WAY more miles out of them. They take forever to heat up compared to others AND the tire breaks loose under hard acceleration. I cant say that for other tires. I will admit that I got what I paid for. And in NO WAY do the Shinko 005 stack up to Michelin, Pirelli, Dunlop tires. If I was Ricky Gadsen and was runnin on a budget, I would drag race Shinkos all day long. They aren't the best tire for cornering for sure.

That's why I posted this thread, Kenny. Cause I wanted these guys to give their suggestions and see if there's tire out there that is really great for a great price.

Figure I could send over a link that saved me an extra 20 bones on Jake Wilson..

http://www.buelletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14052

I got a set of 2ct's for 180 shipped!

If you don't want to follow this link just use the code jw009 when you are checking out for the 20 bucks off. Not sure if it is still valid but if u are going to buy tires its the best deal for Michelin pp2cts that I can find!
