How little I use my rear brakes.

I did the hidden Brembo swap on my XB, bled the brake and all was good.

I finally set up the SCG suspension and took it for a quick ride around the ‘hood.

Obviously I didn’t test it thoroughly because it doesn’t work. Lol. This is all lunaticfringes fault.

I would say “check twice, bleed once” but that makes no sense!

The weird location of the bleeder screw on the hidden caliper mod messed me up too. I bleed it sort of 1/2 way off the disk with the bleeder straight up.

FYI changing the rear master to a smaller 11mm(IIRC?) actually gets the rear brake to work! Instead of the hard wood Buell stock rear 'brake'.

I actually remove the caliper from the swingarm, and put something about the thickness of the rotor between the pads (usually a 1/4” thick piece of wood).. It’s much easier to bleed that way (if only I did it right!)

I figured someone would enjoy my “duh” moment of the day.

I’m ok with the braking quality of the stock m/c with the P32. If it was a P34, I’d definitely step it up (I mean down) like you recommended.
I’m actually a little proud of my lack of reliance on the rear brake.

Ha! I found the issue!

See Cooter, you can quit telling me I’m an idiot (albeit a handsome one).

The caliper appears to be leaking down the seam where the halves are bolted together!

I’ll just mix a little power steering fluid into the reservoir and that should swell the seals enough to git er dun!

Good find.

Uh no!!!! You are wrong! There is NO o-ring in there! You’d think there would be one, heck there is even a groove where you could put an o-ring! But, nada ... nothing!!!! No o-ring!

Lol!

This is the missing bugger! It was weird that the bolts that held the two caliper halves together were only snug.

Years ago when I worked at a GM parts counter, every now and then someone wouldn’t bring in a hugely distorted brake master cylinder diaphragm, and hear how they topped up the power steering and this happened. It’s pretty wild how much p/s fluid affects brake rubber parts.

Fabio Driven: Something is definitely askew. I have a feeling someone either robbed the oring from this caliper, which would explain the missing o-ring. Or it was built on a late Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend. This caliper only has one "transfer port" to move fluid from one side to another. I was expecting to see two, but I'm sure due to it being a small 2 piston setup, I guess they only figured one was necessary?

Captain Handsome: there is a machined pocket for a o-ring to live in, but no o-ring! I was expecting to see a damaged/dry rotted oring I could bring to a parts store to get a replacement. I'll probably just bring the caliper down to see if they have a suitable one that fits. I never saw Guardians of the Galaxy.

tl;dr you are both right!
