Yesssss hopefully he will be reborn like the phoenix and become a better and much stronger company that will dominate the world of sport bikes.

Heck I think it should just dominate the world.

Ok, maybe our beloved aircooled beasties may not be back but PLEASE PLEASE tell me this is just the start of the rebirth. Who's feeling awesome right now?

Everyone go to the link posted by Buellysses. Let's get the hit counter up REALLY high to piss off HD

if you google the website, it says that the owner of the site isn't affiliated with Buell. it was probably some random guy that bought the name in order to sell it to erik when the time came.

It's linked at the bottom of the all of the announcements including the one on Buell.com. I'm just assuming by that that it is official

Im reading that he is done manufacturing motorcycles and just wants to be in the racing scene. I doubt this will mean more production bikes in the feature. [sad]

Thats what Im reading also so if you have an 1125r you will still be in business, sux for the XB people.

I dunno. I'm thinking Erik might have a non-compete agreement with Harley which is why he has to focus on race-only stuff... for now. Not allowed to produce street bikes.

Hopefully it's a stepping stone to going completely independent in the future though. Only a small portion of Buell's fan base are racers. It would be silly to not cater to the rest given the opportunity! At the very least, I bet they will offer support for XB's in the future, but who knows for sure.

Either way though, I'm happy! I Really hope Erik gets the support he needs and keeps at it! Huzzah for Buell!

Anyone have any inof or specs on thsi bike that Buell was working on when they were shut down? The Barracuda II!

On another note, in the video Erik posted announcing the creation of the Erik Buell Racing Company, he says that they will be offering "...Racing parts, race vehicle preparation, and technical support for racers campaigning Buells at all levels of competition.

It may sound overly optimistic, but I'm going to read the "at all levels" part to mean parts/support for current 9 and 12 racers too... which means parts for my XB. Don't really care whether he calls them "race" parts or not. Same thing imo :D

GatorBuell That is a good article. But I read somthing about the Barracuda II Being a bike to SBK

Im sitting here going craxy, I want info and pics to see waht we missed out on.

This passage didn't give me the warm fuzzies:
Erik’s new venture will consist of the making and selling of Buell 1125R-based race-use-only motorcycles, which will are under license from Harley-Davidson. The company will also continue to provide technical support to Buell racers.

The homologation window for the 1125R (and RR) bikes is a limited one; three years from the end of production, I think? Now, that window could slam shut if DMG has another lackluster year with the "AMA" series, and/or the other manufacturers start a rival series, in which the 1125RR is not deemed "legal." for the superbike (or equivalent) class. So, perhaps this venture keeps EB "in the game," but the tether to HD is far from severed if the bikes are still under license, and the (motor) company is still providing technical support.

And like others have said, this seems to do nothing to un-orphan the XB bikes.

This is the Barracuda and I think it would have been a real winner and be the first American top level Contender.
