Hi I'm new to this forum and would like to talk about my
experience as a tall person riding a 2009 Buell xb12scg.
I am 6'3.5" tall and and have no regrets riding this bike. I have adjusted the brake pedal all the way down so my knee is wedged in the frame puck when stopped.
I have made a minor adjustment for the shifter and after this have no more horrible cramping in my legs. I have been told many times that this bike is too small for me which lucky for me made me wait until I sat on this 2009 xb12scg and buy it.
This is also my first road bike and I got 100% on my skills test here is Vancouver B.C. Canada and then for the first time ever on the road I rode it home.
A very predictable and torquey bike. I haven't had to trim the rear brake adjustment to get more room as I thought. On the highway however I really need to tuck my head close to the controls to get in the deflection bubble from the small screen, but who cares
if you like this bike get it and you will not be disappointed even if you are tall like me.
After a few days riding you will get use to it if you adjust the brake so your leg does not cramp.

Might be able to put a different seat on Eh , I have an Xb12S & xb12SCG I know some is in the suspension but the seat is short to . I will try later this week to see if my S seat will fit on the SCg plus i do have an extra seat that came with the SCG that is taller

I am 6'4" and 220lbs. Anybody I ask(or don't ask) tells me my xb9r is too small for me, but I'm comfortable on it, and love it. I sometimes get sore knees after riding all day, but I just bought 1" drop pegs(from a lightning) to hopefully help with that.

I put the drop pegs and select seat on my bolt, made a big difference now all I need are higher bars then it will be just right for me.

Welcome PatrickH[up] put up a pic of your bike. a tall city x seat will help with the leg room.

I really love the low center of gravity and manuverability with the low seat. I have ridden the bike for 5 hours in the city my first day after passing the MST and could barely walk from the cramp in my right leg. Since adjusting the brake all the way down I have ridden the bike for about the same time in the city area and no cramps.
I would honestly not change anything yet.
I should add that my first bike was a 50cc cateye pocket bike and I modified it with bmx handlebars and a 4" lift so this bike feels like it has lots of space. My second bike was a x-18 super pocket bike which I also modifies the seat to match the same height of the scg also with custom handlebars.
Both of these bikes were only ridden for a year.
This might explain why I like the compact fit of the buell scg the way it is.

On the highway however I really need to tuck my head close to the controls to get in the deflection bubble from the small screen
I am not as tall but I too own an Scg. I bought the crossroad bars from americansportbike.com and 2"lowered footpegs from knightdesignllc.com

You can try different bars but the crossroads will give you the furthest lean forward. This helps fatigue on your lower back.

Good luck and welcome

I'm 6'2" 195lbs with an 08 Scg. I bought the bike for recreation with the understanding that it would be small for me. The only time it ever bothers me is when I'm on a destination ride somewhere that doesn't involve any corners. I guess my mind starts thinking about how cramped my body is. Otherwise, when I'm out for spirited rides through the corners I never think about it. I did swap my bars out with a firebolt which for me is more comfortable. I can lay down on the tank easier and can also be more aggressive in the corners.

I will eventually pick up some lower bars after I pay off the bike. Thanks for the picture lesley, the bike looks awsome with the lower bars and the orange heel guards. I just got my bike 3 months ago for 5900.00
in vancouver with just 310 miles on it so I have almost broken it in. I still like sitting straight up when driving in the city so I will wait a bit.

Welcome Patrick, I also own an scg and I'm over 6', I put an S seat on mine and it fits a lot better, enjoy the bike.

Patrick I know a bit how you feel. I'm 6'3 & 200 lbs with a 36" inseam. I have an S tail with a low seat. My legs didn't fit my bike either. It didn't matter how far back on the seat I sat. My knees would contact the forward part of the frame/tank not allowing me to actually grip the frame with my thighs. I purchased some 1" drop pegs. They were relatively inexpensive compared to any other options and really did make a world of difference in fit. I can now fit on the bike and grip the frame as I need to with more comfort. I wish you luck in your adjustments.
