Tough it out...or...sell

Stuck in a delema...I need to decide wither or not to sell my bike or keep it.
I have a 03Buell XB9S 10k miles. Hawk Pipe, Race ECM, K&N, chopped tail, frame pucks, and R air scoop. Ive been down once! but frame pucks saved it and it was at 5mph at the most.
My story is I bought the bike last august for 3.6k 5kmiles but there was lots of unknowns i found out that winter when I serviced it. I've taken care of almost all problems. I am 18 and a sr in highschool and have almost died more times than I can count courtsey of somalies, mexicans, and stupid people but ive been lucky enough to see them first. I will be going to school in manhatten and am debating on taking my bike to the big city (I live in SW Kansas) I will be in engineering and AF ROTC so I will be very busy too. How ever being a poor student proper upkeep of a bike can be $$$ and as we all know parts will be more and more limited.

To sell ( and when to sell) or not to sell...that is my question [confused]

that is a tough one for sure. things you have to also take in account for is theft/stupid people fucking with your shit being in such a big city. weigh out you options and do what works best for you. bikes come and go so dont sell yourself short of the bigger picture. just my $.02

Iam banking on pelgrant,scholarships, and maby full ride for ROTC to pay for mechanical or chem engineering then full time Air Force...a bit more info but my car is a piece and i only have 4.8k saved right now...thinking of cutting my loss on the bike getting a somewhat nice car for college.

be smart and safe get your education and your career youll have plenty of time for a bike later with that many close calls maybe you need to mature some or maybe crossing paths with all the idiots in your town is a sighn to put it away for a while.good luck to you.you seem quite focused for your age.

It's all priorities. You will be able to keep the bike if you really want to. Being that your soon to join the military, and as an officer none the less you will have more money than you know what to do with being so young, especially if you are full ride. All that being said if you keep it hopefully you'll get stationed somewhere with a few more twisties say Cali, WA, anywhere that isn't flat... you will fall in love with the bike even more. Good luck whatever you decide.

I sold my bike when I was in school and had moved to the city, thought I was done riding. I ended up picking another up a few years later. I used to use it for transportation before I moved to the city but once I got here it was much easier just to ride a bicycle. Heavily populated cities usually have a lower percentage of white people as well, and seeing as you've equated most of your close calls to people being Mexicans and Somali, you might wanna wait till you get back to the suburbs to ride anyway... [sad]

I sold my first bike before college, got there and missed it a ton. Went out and got a buell that same fall I started school. Although it stays at home, i tend to make it home at least once a month to ride it till the snow flies [mad]

Leave it at home for a few weeks or so to get a feel for how things are, it might not be so bad. Otherwise, spend a few hundo on a beater UJM. Mostly maintenance free and good on gas...

Park it, winterize it, cover it and lock it, then drop the insurence. You will be so happy to see it when you get home, trust me!

Thanks guys I guess if I get a house up there I can keep it in the garage and go on stress reliever cruises! and I am all about the co-ed transportation!

Good thing about a buell small seat means no fat chicks!
Ive avoided all the run ins because of my maturity if I hadnt been looking everywhere I would have ate it. I pick on the mexicans and somalies especially because we have a meat packing plant near and thats where most accidents happen!

Congrats on going to college. College was the best eight years of my life! All joking aside, you seem to be a bright young man with a great future ahead of you. Do what is right for you, plain and simple. You sound a hell of a lot more mature at 18 than I was at 30.

We really only have 6 more years left till parts are out then there really isnt a reason to ride buell anymore...(for fear of frying or breaking something and not finding replacement parts)
How well do you think it would be to keep it as a collector
