Does anyone have to touring windshield or has gone from a double bubble windshield to the touring shield? I have the double bubble but am wondering if the touring is worth getting instead or if it would be a waste. Trying to make the bike more versatile for longer trips and for the possibility of getting caught in the rain or cold rides. I'm 5'8" and while riding the wind that comes off the shield hits me right about at the "nips" thinking maybe the touring would be higher but by how much I don't know.

I also should have said that I have the LSL handlebar kit making my position on the bike like a lighting rides.

I hate to change the subject here but I have to ask how you really like that LSL kit on the bike? I am also about the same height and was thinking of doing the same thing to mine. Just not sure if I want to spend that kind of cash yet.

Back to your original question, my XB9R still has the stock style shield but I have ridden some other bikes in the past that had that type of shield put on them and it did deflect a lot of wind but these were not on Buells.

I'm 5'8" with a DB and have most of the airflow hitting me on the upper chest, as illustrated by the collection of bugs in that area on my jacket. I have a buddy with a touring shield about the same height. His helmet visor is usually covered with bugs after lengthy rides, so I assume that's where the airflow hits him. Depending on your normal riding posture, I think the touring windscreen would be better suited for longer trips and light rain, especially if you tuck just a little. Although I have the DB, I think the touring version is more functional.

Thanks for the info guys I didn't think I would get anywhere with this post. I think I'll look into the touring shield more.

To rigger4343, The LSL kit was one of my best purchases and most expensive but worth it. Its change my whole perspective of the bike. I was on the verge of thinking of trading it in to get something else more comfortable, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I loved the sound the look the difference it has to all other bikes.... Back to the change of bars. I highly recommend it for a few reasons. On my first ride my back didn't feel so tired, going into the first couple of hard turns I felt a lot more confident on cornering, and in traffic because of the more upright position I felt it was much easier to look over my shoulder change lanes quick. The handling and comfort is the biggest difference. Its still in a good enough position to tuck just like the stock setup and feels like you can flick the bike into a corner like a pro. lol One thing I didn't realize about cornering is if you want to lean the bike quick into a turn, turn the bars the opposite way you want to go. Something I didn't figure out until I had gone to a riding school 6 months after I started riding. just fyi. Works awesome. If you have any questions let me know.

O and I think someone on here is selling a used one. sgtcope is the person I think. look at posts by me or him.

Thanks for the info. I did a quick search but nothing came up. I will look again when I am not about to fall asleep. :)
