i have a 04 xb12r looking to switch my blue spring shock for a red spring, its mint clean..looking for the same

I had the same desire as you for the Red shock instead of the blue. It was recommended to me the safest, easiest , cheapest route was to remove the spring and paint it. the buell pro-line could cause handling issues on the street as it is made for the track.

The red spring is on the 1125's. Good luck taking the spring off. You'll have to rent a spring compressor.

Take off the shock and tape off the piston and ish. Scuff it up a bit and hit it with a rattle can.:)

wouldn't the "rattle can" paint tend to flake off with the compression of the spring?... I am considering getting a new one because my spring looks rusty up top

Powdercoating isn't flexible. Pactra paint is the closest thing you're going to get to factory quality. I can promise you those springs aren't powdercoated.

Powder coating IS flexible. This is what most spring manufactures coat the springs with. Send your spring to Pete @ grandstanddesigns.com he will take care of you [up]

im a custom painter so just painting it would be no big deal, any urethane base paint will flex .did not know the colors meant something..interesting.
