Gotta ask a dumb question now. I thought I could just pull the primary and slide the trans out that side, but after much review that looks like my imagination working overtime. I just thought I had read that somewhere. ( bike is an '05 XB-9). If the cases need to be split, I don't need to fix it that bad! I can wait for something else to go wrong and shift slow into second.
Also it looks like there is no adjustment for the shift drum/mechanism either; if someone could confirm that?
It does shift slightly better with new oil in the primary and the shift lever adjusted down a bit. The clutch is also adjusted. So I'm guessing there is no easy way out on this one.[sad]
