I'm looking at a 2008 white triumph speed triple. 17k miles on it. I haven't seen any bad reviews on it. Anybody had any experience with one? Starts great. Runs fine. Looks well maintained.

Ah, the guys on TriumphRat aren't so bad. Just remember most of them are Limeys, and like a little ribbing.

LOVE the speed triple. Simple, dependable injection system, no maintenance issues I'm aware of. Great suspension too.

It does look good. Sounds good too. I'm possibly trading in my Harley street 750 on it. I realized I'm not a cruiser type of guy. I was going to buy an 1190sx but was told by multiple people here that is not a good commuter. I also considered a Tuono but no one near me has one. This triumph would be a good in between bike.

You're the guy that bought the one Harley street 750 they sold? Cool!

JK:p The Triumph Street Triple would be a great commuter, but whats wrong with a Lightning? It's my first choice to throw my leg over for a comfortable, but super fun, daily ride. Bar, peg, and seat changes are all very easy for the exact riding position you want.

I was looking for a Triumph S3 (as well as a SuperDuke & Tuono) when I bought my XB12S. The Buell offered more value as it was priced at half the money. But I still have my eye on a S3 and will eventually get one.

If the S3 appeals to you, get it. Everything I have read states that it has near Japanese build quality/reliability, which is nice. It has more character than most of the bikes out of Japan. I personally think it rivals the Buell as one of the more interesting bikes out there.

Yep. I'm that 1 guy. It's a good bike. I just don't like cruisers. I thought I would. Maybe a new Vmax would of been the better choice. I'll find out Monday if i get the triumph or not. I appreciate the comments.

The magnas were mean back in the day!

Triumphs are pretty cool bikes. Love me some triples. I have a friend with a speed triple 675. I find the riding experience entirely underwhelming... the 1050 is fun though. The moment they come out with a 1050 or so Daytona, I will have one, I still prefer my Buell though. The triple is a great commuter. Not better than an xb, but still a great bike.

the speed triple looks great and would make a great commuter, it does have more power than the xb but also tends to cost more, and I think insurance is more (but I could be wrong). I think it comes down to money and visual appeal preferences both are awesome commuters, corner shredders, and even not so bad distance bikes (relatively speaking). Or you could get a 2012 and up Tuono... man that v4 sound :D
