1. Can anyone identify these mysterious lines that run the length of both these tires. They just appeared after a ride one day. I've heard of Michelin Pilots coming apart...but can't tell if this is a problem.

2. Does this seat cowl look like the one that fits the XBs? It looks just like the aftermarket XBs cowl but I don't think the guy selling it is sure.

are those the lines telling you its time to get new tread? forget the official word for them..

thats just off the top of my head.. as the picture must not have showed up in your post..

the pilots that were 'coming apart' was the front tire made in france about a year ago.
these showed tears after driving for some time above 200km/h (125mph)
all were recalled, so there should be no problem there.

but pictures of what you are talking about would be a good idea ;)

don't have a clue, but doesn't look deep...although i don't think it's anything bad. could be something from the combining procedure...
i'll check mine tonight and let ya know. if you don't want to risk it, go to the tire guy and ask him.

yea, that cowl fits the xbs

Thanks for your input. Yeah its not deep at all. I can barely feel it. Keep in mind they are NOT dual compound.

Cool deal about the cowl. I thought so.

because its a soft compound that is what they do[smirk].
well let me say that is what mine do, and i run thru thous type of tires in about 5 to 6 weeks.

be easy

have the Pilot's and have the same lines on the tires. I think they are ok, 2 of the guys i ride with have gone through sets of Pilots which also had lines with no issues...

my pilots have some strange marks on them too....

;) heheh

I've got that cowl at home.
If you haven't put it on by now...?!
It's just slide it on the original seat.
It is perfect fit and it won't come off.
It won't work at the select seat and it won't work at all (and no-way near possible) with S.O.C. Shark Nose tail light.

Ok stop the speculation on the lines they are only there to let you know that time is coming to replace your tire I had a set of d208 and it had those line and you see them more when you tire is getting to the end, I wouldn't say every brand is using this but many of them are.

For the cowling well I don't really know but on my old yzf750 I had a sliding cowl like that and it never moved while I was riding

It took me a second to realize what you were talking about. I'm glad to hear its no big deal. I just don't remember ever seeing that on any other tire before ever. Hey man...thanks again.

Jsg...my tires are brand new with less than 300 miles on them. I ride hard but not that hard. Only Gary McCoy could go through tires that fast.

Well which line are you talking about then? the ones going across the treads of your tires or the one that look like a cut almost in the middle of the tire? if it's the ones in the treads, well it is the markers that when they are at the same level as the rest of your tire, mean it time to replace you will see them before you need to replace but when they are flush thats what it mean anbd for your info I usually keep riding the tire anyway but thats me. For the other line on your tire I don't have a clue

It's the slice looking line down the middle of the tire. The tread wear indicators are something different. But thanks for lookin out though.
