Ugly buells

Versys was a very nice bike. I had the suzuki vstrom 650 and the versys was the closest competition it had at the time. The versys completely killed the vstrom when it came to economy. the vstrom was a gas guzzler for its size. I quite like the look of the versys. only critique i had was the small front wheel for a dual.it won a few economy runs to make up 4 it.

BTW i think your bike looksreally good Drogen. but the f650 above it looks like sumthing out of mad max

Sparky just had a bad morning... :D

I had an ER6N before the Buell - sort of an intro into twins.

I loved the bike - very fun to ride in traffic, nice torque from the little 650.
But it was just a tad too small for me - my legs were in an uncomfortable position.

BTW: Beast and myself are from South Africa where we have 11 official languages and both of ours happen to be Afrikaans, but I think we are doing pretty good with the English! [up]

A lot of people called it ugly when I had it. I still enjoyed it like crazy. That's the other thing. Too many people wanted to call it a dual sport bike and put it up against the Strom. It was never marketed as a dual, it was more of the large supermoto category. I always got the people when I owned a supermoto and the V that would always say stuff like "I'd throw some knobbies on that thing if I were you" and it would drive me F'n nuts. They totally didn't get what the bike was about. Maybe I enjoy that frustration and that's why I own a Buell now. Most people don't get what the bike is about and I find myself having to explain why I own it a lot now. Maybe a lot of it has to do with being in Las Vegas, if it ain't a Gixxer here, you ain't a real rider.

Great bike. It was my Versys' shorter sibling. I thought about replacing the Versys with the 6N because after a while the V was just too tall for me but when my 9SX came up for sale, I knew I had to have it instead.

I had loads of people telling me to change the 6N's headlight as it was ugly.

But that's what made the 6N's. That and there quirky speedo cluster!

Kawi had an interesting design direction when these bikes came out and I really enjoyed it. It was unlike anything else out there. I thought the ER-6N was a great looking bike in early pictures but unfortunately we didn't get it here til late in its life span and it was discontinued quickly. Sold my BMW f-650 and bought a versys as soon as they made it to the states in 08 and loved it. Seeing as they were sister bikes, it made me love the 650r and 6n bikes. Only problem I found was the seating position for long trips. I found myself putting the rear pegs down and using those a lot. Made me think I'd like the 6N seating position a lot more.

To my eye, Kawasaki consistently designs the nicest bodywork of the big 4 Japanese manufacturers.

Honda gets it right sometimes but they have also been responsible for monstrosities too (read: Rune, DN-01, & NC700x)

I always look for mono-chromatic paint schemes as a sign of well-executed design. Busy graphics & polychromy are usually just the designers cover-up for an unresolved form.
