uly 06 Lower bike

If you lower the bike, make sure you lower the front and rear exactly the same.
Option one is to get regular XB forks and rear shock. They should be about 2" shorter.
Option 2 is to do the mod above for the rear shock and if you have room with your handlebar combo, is to raise the fork tubes in the triple clamps.
Ghetto option 3. You can cut the spacer though. It's the metal tube on top of the springs. Cut them both exactly the same. Your fork oil level spec will be the same.
Don't cut the fork springs. Ever.

I know I may get flamed for this one, but you can lower the rear alone without any issues, just not a ton(an inch max). I've got a xb12stt shock on the rear of mine which is approx. 3/4 of an inch lower than a stock xb12x shock. Was cheap and low miles and even that little difference helped me quite a bit.

Wouldn't recommend that one. A shock from a xb12ss or xb12stt or xb12xt would be the only three I would swap out. Made for roughly same weight and size bike. I don't know if that xb9 shock would even bolt up. ..
