I have only owned this bike for a couple weeks now...
So I really dont know any of the mechanical history.

She quit on me half way thru my trip and I just assumed
It was a bad battery...i installed a new one last night.

Well... same thing today. No juice left in the battery at all.

I really dont even know where to begin looking. LoL

When you shut off the the bike and remove the key, do you turn it all the way to the left or stop on the "lock" spot?

My bike's battery-post connections have a habit of loosening. Tempted to put them on with mild lock tight.

When I turn the key off, I stop in the middle... not all the way to the left...

The fan usually runs too ( i do have a scoop ordered tho).

Am I turning it off wrong? LoL

I did notice the battery cables were a little loose yesterday, so
I actually used lock washers on the new battery install.

Mine seemed snug enough, but if I could turn cables even a little the battery was not charging...and check engine light would occassionally come on and/or engine cut-out; as well as start problems due to low charge rate. Unlike a car, if the cables are not correctly connected the engine can quit running. A car can keep running off the alternator.

No check engine light or anything funky till the gauges just went off completely...
then a half mile later, she started running out of fuel. After coasting
To a stop, battery was so drained, it wouldnt even turn on the fuel pump.

I know it couldn't have been the cables after the new battery install...
They were still very tight after the battery was depleted.

I also checked all fuses and connections... didnt find anything there either.

Bike has 24,500 miles now... Are their stators proned to wearing out?

true: these bikes have extremely simple and reliable charging systems. trouble shoot it correctly and very easy to locat problem.
1-is battery fully charged and load tested? how old is it? check it first and fully charged should read 12-2-12.5 volts.
2-check battery connections at terminals. clean and tight? (that's what she said)
3. start bike and take voltmeter and place + to +/- to - on battery...should see approx. 13.8-14.6 volts DC at 2500rpm.
4. if #3 isn't there for you remove right side front pulley cover and check your #77 plug which is regulator/stator plug and see if it is clean and no "arcing" marks. there were a few of these that caused problems thru the years and worth checking.
do all of the above and see what you have. if not charging repost.

1) battery is fully charged and tested properly

2)everything is cleaned and hooked goo

3)battery read 12.85 before cranking...and 12.85 at 2500 rpms

4) taking it to shop now to check on the right side stuff. LoL

What is the diode for in the fuse box?... all the other fuses looked good.

Ok... took it to my local shop... (not a buell dealer... just a repair
All shop.)

First test... no charge... he re-checked the fuses and wiggled around
Some of the wires...said we should check it again before we take any
bolts out... Charging perfectly now. LoL

Good news... charging now. Bad news... neither one of us knew which
Wire it could have been. LoL

it wasn't charging and now it is. good deal. which wires did your guy wiggle? i would stil remove the front pulley cover, look at the gray colored 2 wire plug, pull it apart and check it and reassemble with di-electric grease. it is the main charging system plug from regulator.

If it came good by wriggling the wires around the front pulley then I would spend the 15-20 mins it takes to check the '77' connector sockets.
This issue is the only thing that has had me pushing my '06 Uly and it has now done 62,000miles.
I put together a 'how-to' guide that should take out the mystery. Do not assume it has 'gone away' - a poor contact inside this connector can lead to an overheated connector.

Be careful using dielectric grease unless the connector has a good fit - it is not a conductive grease rather it is an insulator and assists keep out moisture. It works great if the mechanical socket is tight.

That was a great link.. I took my grey connector apart today and serviced it as this article showed.

Sure enough, there was alittle notice of burning on one of the female sides. Not enough to warant replacing, but definitely signs it was too loose.

Thanks again for all the help!
