quick question: i'm 6ft tall and 190lbs. my cityX is very comfortable for me and my firebolt which i'm selling is NOT. just bought a 2007 Uly and picking up in 2 weeks or sooner. for a guy my size, are the Uly's pretty comfy? what's the overall general consensus on Uly comfort in stock form? just wondering. thanks as always.

5'10 znd 200, my Uly is definitly more comfortable than I was expecting, big enough to move around, decent rise on the bars, with no passenger you can tuck in pretty good, if you get the hard luggage, you can drag foot pegs with out worries.

Super comfy, they are a big bike with lots of room and a bit sofa-like seat. My first ride on mine was from boston to DC in an evening and it was perfectly comfy despite not being used to the bike.

They do put off a bit of heat so if it is warm out you may be uncomfortable from being cooked. There are lots of ways of reducing the bbq effect, though I don't think you'll get rid of it all together. I suspect this is true of all XBs but the Uly is the only one I have time on.

^ Glad it all worked out! how much if I may ask? Oh, and pics or you ride a harley trike!

I'm 6-4 with 36" inseam and extremely happy with the ergonomics of my '09 Uly XT but I think an inch and a half or so more rise would keep the back from getting tired after an hour or so. I got the tall saddle and that made a huge difference, preventing a tendency to slide foreward during downhill braking and manuevering.

I am 6' 215 and my Uly is the most comfortable stock bike I have owned as far as stock seat, bars, and pegs. It's comfortable enough for an all day ride with all your stuff and still fun in all the right places.

What a great bike!

6'2" 220, and I've had a touring bike for a long time. I like the go fast stuff, but they don't fit me at all. This thing comes close, and I can actually ride it.

i had to make a 12 hour roundtrip to fetch it but picked up a 2007 Uly with 3020 miles on it for $4400. one owner and dirty as hell...i mean filthy! was never serviced but completely stock and cosmetically perfect. thought it was a good buy. brought it home and stripped it to motor, frame, suspension to clean and do some mods. am doing breather re-route, all new fluids, heated grips, taller windscreen, hawkins exhaust, iridium tipped plugs, a few other small things. i didn't know these Uly's have the cable operated exhaust valve but reckon i'll just leave it hooked up. thanks for all the advice.

I know that this is an old thread but I wanted to chime in for those prospective uly owners wondering about the size of the uly and rider comfort. I searched for days reading reviews and forums about bike size. Enough to where the girlfriend hates forum sites because I'm always reading. Came across a Uly by accident on craigslist and bought it for the comfort. I'm 6'8" and I weigh 305 lbs with a 38" inseam and I don't think I can get much more comfortable on a bike without buying a big ass VTX. I've got an 06 with the stock "taller" seat on it.

I am 5' 7" and 175lbs with an 07 uly, on tip toes at stops which I keep to an absolute minimum. At speed this bike is the most intuitive machine I have ever been on. It performs flawlessly.

I'm 6'2" 210, a couple of mods to make my '07 ULY a better all day rider. Baldwin gel seat, ROX 1 1/2" risers, 1" drop pegs. everything just fluff.

If your any taller than me, don't buy the factory low seat (i'm 5'7"). It's still nice and roomy, but going low means you lose some padding. Other than occasional numb butt and cooked nut syndrome my uly is real comfy.

lunaticfringe it's funny that you say that because i do have some film that has been sent into a few teams. Nothing is for sure but you never know. I love riding and I'm glad I finally found something a little more comfortable than my old 95 xr650l to cruise around on. lol :D

+1 on not using the low seat. I have both the low and regular/tall seat on my 06 Uly from the previous owner. I found that the shape of the low seat created an uncomfortable slope near the back, whereas the regular/tall seat was flatter and more suitable for moving around which helps to remain comfortable. At 5'11" I cannot fully flat foot both feet with the regular/tall seat. But it's a compromise I'm willing to take considering how much more comfortable that seat is over the low version, evidenced by the fact that I rode the Uly from Detroit (where I flew out to buy it from the previous owner) to Maryland in the same day.

There's a 09 UlyXT with 4400 miles in Anna Il. I'd like to have for $6500. Its on CL if anybody is looking.

I am 5'7" 200lbs and ride an 09 xb12x with a low seat and everything else is all stock. Really do like how plush, tall, and comfortable the bike is especially 2 up. Really can hit the rough roads as hard you want and stay comfortable all day.
I do like the 190/50 tire on the back much better than the 180/55, Lowers the bike slightly and makes the bike a little more stable when slow speed maneuvering, start and stopping on gravel or dirt, I have a 34" inseam and with boots on can touch both balls of my feet on the ground. The riding posture for me is awesome for cruising, and the lower seat does have a step in the middle separating the elevated back half of the seat. I am glad they made the seat that way as the passenger gets a full thickness of the seat. Lower seat does hinder when you want to get as low as possible to corner better, but I think I need to get a Lightning or Firebolt for that though? Augustus_09 does not have a problem keeping up with ANYTHING on his Uly though. Hey Augustus_09 I think you have your first year anniversary on your Uly? Congrats!!
