I had the same shorting on the starter as 2 years ago.
Dropped a buddy of Tuesday evening, stood chatting and the bike stalled.
Motor swung powerfully, but refused to start.
Checked the fuel and nearly empty, but no warning lights on dash! [confused]
Got fuel and the it happened - clocks would power up, swing and then mid swing reset itself a few times (actual time would reset to 1:00), so I knew it was the exact issue.
Anyway, not having time or energy for it, I took it to my Buell specialist. It is all fixed.
Both plugs fouled (which I kinda thought will happen) and the carb was blocked up something terrible. He also fixed the starter shorting (which HD fixed twice 2 years ago - was under 3 month shop guarantee back then).
But he reports that she runs like a dream now! Picking her up tonight.
