Undertail Kit/Laydown Licence Plate

This is a nice way to clean up the back of your XB for not much money and a little work. The mount is a laydown licence plate kit for a Harley Dyna. Its about $40 bucks at a local Harley dealer. The one I have here is from a company called Custom Chrome. Its a little cheaper than the Harley brand counter part and it comes with all the hardware. Just drop the undertray panel down and center the mount to make your marks to drill. Make sure to double check your placement where your holes are that it will not interfere with any of the wiring or things mount behind the undertail panel. Also make sure you mount it high enough to allow the wheel to fully travel without rubbing. When mounting it to the panel, make sure to use some fender washers on the inner side to prevent it from pulling the bolts through. I spoke to a local officer here in town, and he said that with this mount it is not illuminated, but since it is clearly visable it should not be a legal problem. If the cops in your town are a little more cracked down on the vehicular laws, run to a local auto parts store and pick up some single LED's and mount them just above the plate in the undertail panel. Run them off of a ignition circut that is fused and that will cure the lighting problems. Any other questions, feel free to ask. I can get the parts if you cant find them at a local dealer.

And yes I know my plate is all beat up. It's vintage....

Hey partsguy, You just saved me about a hundred and fifty bucks,was going to order the one from adrenilin-moto in uk, next time i'm in Minnesota i'll look you up and take down to the local tavern buddy. Well man I left Minnesota turf a couple months ago. I headed for the nice country where I can ride year round, Arizona. Yeah I fabbed the stand myself. My advice though is if you want to make a stand like this, make it about 5 1/2 feet tall and wide enough to clear the mirrors. I am going to build another stand that size for on the ground like this here. The one I am using here is actually a perfect fit for a motorcycle table lift. I used angle iron on the bottom and it locks right on to the edges of a table lift. Perfect for when you are tipping the engine or doing front end service on the lift.

Otherwise a stand like this works nicely. This is my old bosses bike at the shop I worked at. I helped him out at the track when he first got it. Pretty fun bike. Some teasing pictures

Are those actually tire heaters so you can set the pressure at race temps?

Yeah, the Michelin Pilot Race Tires we were using said that the pressure had to be set "warm" for best performance. Also Brett, the guy who raced it, said that they take quite a while to warm up to a good racing temp so this helped it that aspect also. The track we were actually at there, the starting grid was right before the main straight and turn one was a big banked all out corner. Tires had to warm even more so at that track because of the first corners location.

Couldn't you just do a burn-out and lean the bike over at the tire edges to heat 'em up?

Doing burnouts eat tires, especially sticky soft race tires. Its not the drags, its road racing.

That picture was taken in August. He had gotten the XBRR in mid July. Its a sweet bike, but racing it brought out a few things I would have changed. We had a couple small problems. Nothing big.

Nope I graduated from UTI about 5 years ago now. I just cant stand watching my bike sit half the year in the garage. I hate snow, bug, and humidity, so this is the place for me. I dont mind the heat, I have my own pool I just live like a frog when it gets hot out.

wow bpg i just moved to st. cloud last week and ive already been to donahue's haha they seem liek really good people for helping me out that have a better buell selection too that alot of other harley dealers ive been to.... nice to know that you know about stuff where im from for questions... also absolutly love the homade lift... seeig as im a welder by trade i think making one will be a weekend project here in the near future for ease of things

Buell Race kit. Hard to find now-a-days but they are out there.
