Ventura Rack ?

Just wondering if anyone could advise me on how easy the racks are supposed to slide into the mounting rails? I got it all mounted up the way the manual says but you still have to force the racks in. Something I'm doing wrong, or is it just the nature of the beast? I'm headed out to mess with it again before I go for a ride but would like someone who has this setup to chime in. Mine usually has a pretty tight fit. It gets a little rusty at times so I use some scotchbrite to clean the ends and inside the holes and put a little WD40 in there.
