Last Friday a guy in my apartments backed into my motorcycle and it fell on the right side. didnt really do any damage. But now under mild-heavy braking im getting a vibration in the front end. tomorrow im going to dig into it more and try to figure out what is going on. I just put new pads on yesterday and rode for about 80 miles and it is still doing it. Tires are brand new.

This is what i have found so far to look at is there anything else im missing?
rotor runout-
main fork nut-
rotor bolt tq-
tire cupping-
bleeding brakes-

thanks for the help. will keep you updated on my progress

AFAIK you can't hurt the rotor unless it lands on something like a curb. Falling over on a flat surface won't bring the rotor into contact with anything.

Your forks may be tweaked. Loosen the lower triple only, wiggle the bars and tire back and forth, tighten lower triple, go for test ride.

Either of those guys are right. If it's a pulsing that varies with speed (ex. Pulsing slows down as the bike does under braking) then it's a rotor otherwise definitely start with the forks. If you have a motorcycle jack, then put it on that and spin the front wheel to check for a wobble or bent wheel.

ok, sounds good, im going start with spinning the front wheel, if nothing then ill loosen up the triple tree.

Is there a rotor that you guys recommend. I read a lot about the EBR 5 and 6mm but honestly this bike will never see a track. I do a lot of riding on these curvy PA roads and thats about it. When i move back to WI the roads are even less curvy. So i dont want to buy something i really dont need.

where in PA? then go for the most economical rotor you can find if that ends up being required. buellster.com has good used parts....good used rotors on ebay with warranty on them...even board member UMDterp13 was recently parting out a ulysses which should have same rotor.

Blairsville is where I live. Do majority of the riding out towards saltsburg.

And as long as the bike has a big front rotor with those outside bolts will it fit on mine? Or are those bolts holes differently spaced on different bikes?

they are all the same. you received great info above from posters and just as another suggestion....before springing for a new rotor remove your existing rotor and take it to local machine shop and ask machinist to run a light ball mill across both surfaces. that often times smooths out the surfaces and refreshes the rotor making it serviceable.

alright sounds good

clean the springs in you rotor mounts out real well with something like "liquid wrench" or WD-40.. sometimes crap builds up in there and causes the rotor not to float properly...check your tire pressure. That can cause that pulsing also.

thanks, will do that now

When riding home today, noticed that when driving straight my triple tree is just off by a little bit. im going to loosen all those bolts and re tighten see what that does.

sprayed wd40 on the rotor spring and bolts, bleed the brakes, just loosened up the fork on the right then re tightened,

so far the vibration has gone away, taking a longer ride in a little while and will put it to the test.

... That last post where you said "When driving straight my triple tree is off by a little bit" would have pointed me directly at the forks ... But the brake rotor maintenance certainly didn't hurt anything for sure ... hopefully that's a problem solved right thurr !! ... lol
