Voltage Regulator Bracket...

Just thought I'd share my idea for people that have or need to go with the upgraded regulator. I didn't really like the looks of the under the tail mounting so I decided to mess around with some ideas and this is what I settled on. I do not believe this will work with the stock exhaust but it should work with most aftermarket. It isn't really that close to the exhaust but with it being right in the front I believe that will make it be ok since it will be getting some major airflow. I still have to paint and run the wires so I'll post that later. I tried to get some up close shots so if you want you can replicate it for your application.

I like it. I would bring the wires up the opposite side.

I'm going to run them through the clamp that's right there just above the black line running up in the first pic and run it that side because I've already ran stuff that way that I'm removing. If I went the other way I'd try to get them in that channel but I doubt it would fit.

Just in case, you may want to put a piece of muffler wrap tape where that harness passes closest to the exhaust system. That location will definitely get more airflow (compared to under the seat), but it will also definitely be exposed to higher temperatures (especially if you are caught in traffic and don't get the airflow).

Just an update now that I'm finished with my setup. I ended up having a grounded out stator so had to get a new one. Finally buttoned it all up the other day so here is the final setup. I talked to Jack at Roadstercycle and discussed this setup with him and he believes even with the exhaust somewhat close there should be no heat issues since it is getting about the best airflow you can give the VR.

The cable sleeve is rated for 750F. If they get to that temp then the wires are the least of my worries. Average motorcycle exhaust pipes get to an average of 600-700F from my research. Since the temp lowers as it radiates from the pipe I think it will be good. It doesn't come much closer than the other wires that are near there already. I'll update after summer hits.
