everyone has the right to wear it or not.too many people voice their opinions about what other people should do. freedom in America wha hoo the freedom to do what you want, and someone else to not like it.

freedom in America
LMAO
sorry ztied, had to laugh at that one, it's pretty funny when you think aboot it.

Pretty much since aboot the early 2000's (say Sept 2001 for example) the continent of north america has silently become a police state, it's been going on for much longer then that with big business calling the shots the last hundred years or so (lets use 1913 when the Fed Reserve was established for example) and slowly 'boiling the frog' as it were with the people of north america.

It's all good tho as I agree everyone should have the right to wear whatever they would like but the issue of gearing up or helmet laws is one that saying of 'opinions are much like assholes, we all have one' applys too.
:)

Buddha, are you being serious? America is a "police state" really? C'mon now. That's rather dramatically overstating things don't you think? If you lived in North Korea I think you'd pretty much shut the fuck up and spend all your time wishing you lived in America where the average height of citizens HASN'T decreased 4 inches in the last few decades due to malnutrition like it has there.

Don't take that personally man, I'm just saying, I can fully appreciate and respect other peoples views... all the way up until they say some stupid shit. Then me and everyone else stop listening.

When people start bitching about 'the lack of rights & freedoms' we have here in the US is just sounds asinine and insults those who've fought to give you what you have.

And if you DO believe American is a "police state" then I only have one question: How much ammonium nitrate do you have stored in your garage? (and hopefully you live far, far away from me and those I love)

I live in Albuquerque. I drive a buell chopper, to each his own. I love my chopper and I love Buells I know a lot of you nozzles out there can only appreciate one kind of bike, not me. Here it gets really hot been over and around 100F. I wear a leather vest, gloves, and a lid. I have to wear a suit to work and if I take the bike to work I still ride in my slacks and still roast. If i would have to wear my full jacket all the time i can assure you I wouldn't ever take my bike out. Driving in 100F feels like the heater is on in blowing right off the face of the planet, ride 100 feet and you are drenched in sweat and if i get stuck in traffic its air cooled and i sit a couple inches away from the heads and pipes as they get progressively hot. I take saftey into account but comfort also. If I didnt, I wouldnt be riding a bike and have a Volvo instead of my Tacoma.

Buddha, are you being serious?
Heart attack serious redwing

being that I referred to the North American police state as opposed to just the US (the difference there is that the United States is the republic on which your great country was founded as opposed to the United States of America which is the corporation that the US has become over the last 100 years.)

Those who've put up with my tinfoil hat rantings over the last (almost 5yrs) know I am the resident crazy Canuck that feels the same aboot my own country as I do yours and most so called '1st world' countries.

I may be nuts but I do know that the world is not what they present it to be and it does not take a 'conspiracy theorist' to see that.

How much ammonium nitrate do you have stored in your garage?
none,
I am more along the lines of protect my wife, property and animals kinda guy who would shoot a person if they were trespassing BUT according to the 2009 MIAC report it is easy to come to the conclusion the government would reach that I and many members of this forum would fall into a certain category.

redwing I encourage you to apply critical thinking to everything, turn off the TV, stop listening to the mainstream media and do not engage in the Hegelian dialectic.
You can stop suffering from cognitive dissonance, your life is yours to live believe or not.

As to not go off on too much of a tangent for this thread I'll leave it at that and hope you are not offended by my posts.

:)

My wife and I had the pleasure to meet Brittany Morrow at the IMS the winter before last. She's an inspiration to motorcyclists everywhere. If you can sit through one of her seminars and still hit the road without gear, you're an absolute fool. Check out her website:

http://www.rockthegear.org/

I used to ride in jeans and a t-shirt, no helmet or anything. I'll be the first to admit that I was reckless and dumb. I won't tell you what to do, and I actually do disagree with helmet laws. But in the same way that you snub your nose at me for riding in 100 degrees and 100 percent humidity in full gear, I'll snub my nose at you for riding around basically naked. And lets be honest, when jeans and a t shirt slide across the road, you might as well be naked.

This isn't about laws or police states, it's simply about keeping our skin attached...plain and fucking simple.

Also, I don't get why some think that what they ride has anything to do with wearing gear or going down. Harley, chopper, Buell, GSXR it doesn't matter. If you go down without gear, you are going to lose skin. Without a helmet, who knows. Sorry for my rants, whiskey and forums......

Well Buddha, I suppose you and I are not crazy far off in our overall mindset. I do agree that the direction of the US and other countries is fully dictated by things behind the scenes, not always fully in the best interests of the citizens.

I'm also in 100% agreement that pretty much everything on TV and the vast majority of media/news outlets are completely worthless in virtually all aspects.

While I keep my tinfoil primarily in the kitchen [smirk] I get more about what you're saying now.

Sometimes (more often than not) a little clarification is all it takes to bridge a gap. It's a shame that's an alien concept to our politicians. Not that I'm expecting THEM to save us.

This thread will now return to its regularly scheduled programming.

Sorry there are no squids where I live, I could always go down the road without any gear on and the Gains Family Dog Pack chasing me (not that they are in that link)
