I'd get what you want. As much as I love my Buell, I'd trade it in an instant for a BMW S1000RR.

I see no real reason to stay totally loyal to one brand or another. That's a Harley thing and it breeds hate between fellow riders.

Yes just about everyone I know with a metric sport bike rides in the higher rpm range.when buell made our bikes he had more than 12 employees so it is a fair comparison.we always say the same things,handles great,flat torque curve,useable power but the truth is they don't measure up.hopefully the 1190rs will be a different story.I would say if your even thinking of another bike then do it and you wont be disappointed.I chose to get rid of my metric sport bikes and keep the buell.but I see a BMW in my future also.

The bike is beyond pretty... Look at it this way, The Ducati is like that girlfriend that you have on the side. She is sexy, athletic, fun to ride, and makes your friends jealous... but she's just after you for your money!

The Buell is like your wife. After years of marriage, you may not be as physically attracted to her, but you have grown to love eachother for what's on the inside. She knows what turns you on, and she can make you look like you ride better than you actually do.

Think of things in the long run...Maintenance on Ducs is much more expensive than Buells, it is also typically more involved. I had this same Decision to make when I couldnt decide on my 1125R or a Ducati 1098. it was almost twice as much to insure, twice as much to repair, the service intervals were almost twice as often, and parts were just rediculous. I am talking about an $800 wheel (a stock one to boot.) not to mention the price tag on the bike nearly $18K new...Now the 848 is only what...$13,500? but you still have the maintenance and everything else to consider. take it all in and decide wisely

Great post!

Get what you want, don't be a sheeple. Personally, I love both my wife and my Buell, and wouldn't get rid of either one.

the duc is sexy and at least it has more low end torque than the 600cc inline 4's but it's still a very uncomfortabe ride. Ergo's can get painful rather quickly. My xb9sx feels so nice just riding fast or cruising. can't complain. i've owned a 954rr, daytona 675, 600rr, f4i for comparison.

I just bought 4 liters of of 20W-50 Purple K......Maybe after the oil change I'll keep it, after all it is expensive oil.

Great post agfish18.

I'd say get the 848 if you can. I'm thinking about doing the same thing!

Let us Pray for our brothers in doubt.

"The Buell is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
It maketh me burnout on black pavements;
It leadeth me beside busy freeways;
It restoreth my soul;
It leads me in the path of quickness for its names sake.
Yea I walk through the valley of rice,
I shall fear no turbo,
for Torque art with me;
Thy clutch and thy throttle they comfort me.
Thou preparest a Track for me in the presense of mine enemies;
Thou hast anointed my engine with oil;
My bike overpowers.
Surely traction and victory shall follow me,
All the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the house of the CC's, Forever.
Amen "

---The Holy Trinity of Tech

This from another brother with great wisdom.

Depends on what you like....I have a xb12s and a hayabusa. I love them both for totally different reasons. I don't think you will be happy with the Duc simply for the maintenance cost!

fair would have been putting it in a 1000 cc class.the only thing they proved was it takes an 1190 buell to compete with 600s.

The 600's have twice as many power pulses per revolution. cc's aren't everything. What if 2 strokes were still allowed? How do you think they'd do if they were 600's?
