Looking for a airbox to paint as an extra set for my uly. No cracks or huge gouges, but i dont want to waste a premo one on painting it either. Must have the fuel cap bezel. No translucents they are a bit harder to work with for painting. Dont want to spend a ton either. please drop a note on the thread

Well here's what I'm starting with folks. The fly screen came to me coated with rattle can black and rattle can bed liner. Which both came of with a bit of solvent. That air box is going to take some serious sanding, that paint is thiiiiick! It's all good. Thanks again cooter!

Can you believe someone did that on purpose? Fugly, right? Hit it with really wet 180 on a DA sander (but don't dig in!), it will come right off. Hand sanding would be a PITA.

I also have an XB windscreen hacked from a scrap piece of aluminum, and covered with faux armadillo skin cut from a maybe a purse? JK, Going in the bin...

No worries cooter. I paint cars for a living. I've seen even worse paint pass for "pro" body shop repair. Might even use some plastic safe stripper to save some sanding, but that usually ends up messier than its worth.

What kind of solvent did you use to remove the bed liner spray? All of my lower plastics were coated with it by the PO and I would love to have them back to normal.

Actually used brake cleaner, I wouldn't generally recommend that, it's just what I had at home.
I would try this (aircraft stripper for plastic)http://www.handsontools.com/Klean-S...p_11192.html?gclid=CIHUyoWCq88CFQGRaQodHf0Efw

Even if you manage to get it off I wouldn't expect the plastics to turn out looking very good, sooooo plan on possibly painting or doing a lot of polishing if you attempt to remove the bed liner.

Thanks!! I'll give that a shot. I was wanting to paint them a different color anyway.

Here's what I ended up doing. Decided against the scallops, didn't feel like doing that much work, been a bit limited on my spare time. Still think it looks pretty good. I've still got to sand it flat and buff it as well. Hoping I Don't have to clear it again to bury the stripes.

Looks good! I miss having access to a paint shop:(

I bet! I wish i had more time to fiddle and more ambition. After paint collision jobs all day i dont fell much like getting real fancy. The owner of the dealership had to harp on me for two rears to fix the peeling paint from some other dumba$$ on his T/A and convince me to paint a phoenix on his hood.
