Well I Eff'd up this one

So i disconnected my oil lines that run to my swing arm in order to mount a race pipe. When I attempted to reattach the oil lines i cross threaded them in the swing arm and now i'm stuck. Does anyone know what size tap i need to fix this, or does anyone have the tap that i could borrow? or any other suggestions on how to fix this.

What year?
If it has the newer quick disc lines, ya should done that. But what you cab do is remove sming arm, i believe its a 37/64 drill to over size the hole, 5/8" tap fpr threads, get to your chevy dealer get a transmission cooler fitting that fits into the radiator. It recieves a 3/8" hose, and 5/8" thread.

do you just need the plugs that go into the swing arm? I have a could different swing arms

Its an 08 xb12r and i think my lines are fine, i just need to re tap the threads in the swing arm itself. @ Crash, if i changed the size of the whole then would i still be able to use my same oil line male end, or would i have to enlarge that as well?

The oil line fitting recieves 3/8" piping. The chevy transmission cooler fitting is exactly the same, except 5/8" thread. The metal is too soft for a re-thread. 37/64 drill bit $20, 5/8" tap, $15, fitting from dealer $8. So yes you use original oil line just new fitting. Ive obviously been down this road before. For future reference, just remove the metal retaining clip.

haha yep, that is exactly what i did, wasn't even paying attention to what i did until i felt a metal shaving on my finger and said oh boy

Anyone know if the swing arm is aluminum or magnesium? it's an 08 bolt.

i didnt strip my drain plug, i stripped the insert for the oil line.

I have just read a bunch of older threads over the past few days and I came across stripped swingarm drain plugs QUITE often ...

Just an update of how i'm trying to fix this. Dropped it off at my buddies shop, he drilled it out and retapped it with a pipe thread, then put a tapered pipe thread and tapped the inside of that with the 9/16th machine thread, which is the size of the oil fitting. Busy with work now, but gonna try and put it on my bike this weekend and see if there is enough clearance with the oil lines and hope it doesn't leak.
