I love the look of my xb12s. I don't love how it handles. I'm used sport bikes handling like they are on rails going 120. I think it's the short wheelbase and the intense steering rake on my xb12s.

- How does the xb12SS become a longer wheelbase?
- Is it just a longer swing arm?
- Has anyone converted from an S to and SS?

It also has a longer frame. You can tell a 12Ss by the longer frame pucks. To me they feel taller, but I don't know, I've never looked at the numbers on that.

Slide your forks down in the triples 5mm or so or to the next line and see how that feels. You can even set them flush with triple clamps if you want. That will lengthen the rake a bit and slow down the initial turn in and may hold a line better for you. Also MAKE SURE you set up your suspension correctly for your weight.

I'm sorry LEFOX, but those links have exactly the same specs. I had the understanding that the SS wheelbase was longer. Am I incorrect?

The SS has a 2" longer wheelbase - approx. 54" If you're after a "sportier" ride, the Firebolt has a more aggressive seating position than the Lightning as well as having more than an 1" less ground clearance. That's if you're looking to change.

If not, like Matter said, fine-tuning the suspension will make a world of difference.

The Ss has less radical steering geometry compare the the S so it's more stable. Still a lot more radical then most bikes but I would say it compare to the geometry of the KTM superduke or the Kawy Z1000

So are the swing arms on the xb12s and the SS exactly the same? Or does the SS get the 2 inches of longer wheelbase from a longer swing arm?

Is there anyway of lengthening the wheelbase?
Is replacing the swing arm with a longer one an option?

Believe they get the extra inches for the SS from rake angle, thinking the swingarms may be the same.

^^^I'm pretty sure the swing arm is longer. That's why the Ss has a different hugger than the regular S.
