I'm going to cut some holes into my airbox once my K&N gets here. I spent some time tonight cutting up my pulley cover so you can see the pulley spin, and I realize that out of all the tools I have, none are really ideal for cutting through oddly shaped plastic in any kind of a neat fashion. I was curious what you guys were using to cut up your airbox and still have it look neat. Either way if you're using hand tools or power tools, pneumatic, electric, whatever. I definitely need to buy a dremel too. It's way too easy to cause damage with a pneumatic angle grinder...

one of those bits that drills through wood will work good. the flat one that comes in different widths. cant think of the name off hand. its not a hole saw though i know that. i just cut mine completely and bolted the lid down :) i hope to get off my lazy ass, clean my bike and take some pics soon.

Talking about a spade bit? Are a step up bit

I think he may be refering to a router bit. I would use a drill for the corners and a dremel, as mentioned. That sounds like the most suitable method.

I have some of those flat bits for drilling holes in wood. I was just going to try to make it look a little nicer than that and stick to some holes that look a little closer to what's in the newer airboxes. I know you won't really see it, but still.

I guess I'll look into the dremel then. I knew you could sand/grind some with them, but I didn't know you could actually just cut things with them. Good to know.

I used my dremel with the drywall bit that cuts sideways then used a sanding bit to clean up the edges

Not sure if this is what stang is referring to but I used a drill bit that cuts out like an inch or inch and a half hole It's circular obviously and has teeth on the outer edge like a saw and hallow in the middle.looks real clean then used a half in h drill bit and put a bunch of holes near the front.

I used a 3/8" drill bit for the corners and a rough outline and then a dremel for the final cutout and cleanup.
