So I just got done with the first ride on the 04 firebolt the other day and today I get home and go to start it and it wont. It turns over and I hear the fuel pump kick on but nothing. Im going to check the plugs tomorrow but damn...Ive had the bike less than a week. What would cause this? (if this is even the problem) Bikes only got 7000miles.[mad]

if u bought it used, chances are it sat on the showroom floor/garage/shelf for a few months or so.

ur battery is low probably.

i would charge it, run all the gas out. fill it up. put about 50 miles on it, and put some wood/plastic under the kick-stand at night.

and have the plugs cleaned.

Dude that sounds about right went to start. sputtered tried again and it cranked slow. whats the proper way to unflood it. do i have to drain the gas and then crank the heck out of it? oh and what plugs do ypu guys use? thanks alot.. well off to work in 10 degeee weather

i would be trickle-charging it in 10 degree weather

take out the front plug; clean all the brown/black off

use NGK plugs

Do ever thing 07bolt said but also-no throttle at start up only the start button, and maybe new plugs.

NGK -DCPR9EIX Iridium

[up][up][up] First time in my life I have ever changed plugs in anything (motorcycle, car, truck, boat, etc.) and had an extremely noticeable difference [up] (other than changing out fouled plugs of course)

hey i have the same problem with my xb12r i just shipped it to England and i started it once and then started it later that evening and now its only firing off the front cylinder. what would be the problem???

That would be the problem; the plugs are fouled.

a wise man once told me "Buells are not built/designed to start up sound cool & look cool, they are built for one thing: RIDING!" don't ever start your Buell unless you are gonna ride it. this will help the life of your plugs tremendously :D

i figured that as common sense the dealership told me to hold a wide open throttle when i start it next to clean he plugs, true or false i really don't know

best bet would be to go with the NGK Iridiums, you will not regret it [up]
don't think I would want to start a cold motor at WOT to clean it out. Put the new plugs in it, take it for a ride, once it gets warm then blast it out :D make sure you get the 9's (DCPR9EIX) the 9 is the correct heat range plug for our bikes.

its not very bad at all; just make sure that you have a 3/8" drive extension and swivel (for the rear cylinder). should take about 15 to 20 min. total, at the most.
