I changed my oil and filter a week ago and now it appears to be leaking oil on the filter side. I thought maybe I over tightened the filter and that was causing the the leak so I relaced the Mobile 1 filter with a K&N. Well, its still leaking oil om my exhaust on the right side. The bike has 4,800 miles and I did'nt over fill it. Any ideas?

I thought about that as I was posting. First thing I'll check in the morning. Thanks for your help.

That was'nt it. Sufface was completely smooth. This kinda %$^# bugs the hell out of me.

if it has never leaked oil until you changed the oil then you probably muffed the oil change. Check the filter gasket, and filter for holes. ive done probably 500+ oil changes and ive seen filters with pin holes up to screw driver holes depending on what they used to open the case. try a new filter or go to your parts store and get UV dye.

I put on a new filter Zero and still it leaks. I've checked oil lines for seapage and still can't pin point it. The sides of the filter appear dry.. I feel i've muffed something too but maybe its been leaking and I did'nt catch it before.

Dissasemble it, spray it down with simple green, once its done leave your lower fairing off spin around the neighborhood and it should be easier to spot source with a clean engine

Check the oil lines...they might have worked loose, or you could have bumped them while taking the filter off.

I guess i'll tackle it again Friday. Got kinda late so Bright and I went for a ride. I took the vmax and he rode his Bolt. The max sure does'nt handle like Mr. Buell but its still fun in a different way.

Oil is not leaking on my exhaust anymore. Its was simple human error and unintended sloppyness. I used hot water and Dawn in a spray bottle and cleaned up my stock can. When I changed the fiter I must have without realizing it dumped alot of oil on top the exhaust. Soooooo, here's a hint. Foil the filter side of your exhaust also when changeing your filter. Could save some worries.

Yea i just wrapped mine in a old raincoat. Im kinda ocd though
you would have a heart attack if you saw me do my oil change! I let that **** go wherever then just hose it off with brake clean :D
