what does a performance chip do

[smirk] I bought a 05 xb12r with a drummer muffler and a performance chip, but I don't know what advantage I have by having it, this is my first bike so I cant tell the difference, and I sure don't know how to mess with it, can some one please tell me what I got,I really feel like a total rookie by asking this[confused]

if you mean race ecm by 'performance chip' that you have a computer unit with different stored fuel maps, ignition timings, etc.

this should give you better performance compared to stock ecm.
