I also had a OG Manx back in the early 2000's with a built 1835 that I used for running parts and mobbing dunes in Glamis. Rolled it out there:upset: and it went from Puke Yellow to Viper Red (Thanks Earl Sheib $99!), I put in AstroTurf for carpet and bolted an old surfboard to the 'cage for shade. Rattly, uncomfortable, impractical, and one of the most fun things I ever had;)

I bought this '68 Fury III from a buddy and I cruised this around Redondo Beach in the early 2000's. He's the one who put on the terrible 2000's wheels, a Mopar crate 383 and one day paint job on it. Even got the "Slakker" plates on it:cool: What a great cruiser, it's just puts a smile on my face every time:angel:
Eventually I sold it to a family friend that was going to "take the kids to the beach in it". Fast forward 16 years and she calls me and asks if I want to buy it back! Lack of space, time, and effort made me pass the offer to the guy that I originally got it from and he said sure!

We went to pick it up and it had only accumulated 2000 miles in all that time:upset: I think us Buellers can understand how thats TERRIBLE for a vehicle:( Took 4 stops to even get on the highway for the trip home (new battery, charging system repair, ignition repair, stop light repair) and he convinced me to get it back to good cruising status for him. I just got it done!

The good news is they had just put on a brand new top (with a glass window!), a re-built 727 trans, tires, carb rebuild (THERMOQUAD! LOL), but otherwise it sat languishing, but at least in a garage! Thats why the One Day paint is still super shiny:)

Good from far, but far from good. She's a rusty bitch, needs a whole interior, suspension bushings and some C-body unobtainium parts like rear window regulators and convertible switch dash trim, but who cares? I would never roll up the windows anyway:angel: But DANG she cruises perfectly, the powertrain is new, sounds great, and is much faster than 3 douchbags in a Hyundai Sonata... quietly whooshing away with all the class you would expect from such a vehicle of refined taste and stature :eagerness:

Makes the sunset drive pretty eventful:love_heart:

I'm going to be sad returning it, but its a big thing to dock in the local Trader Joes parking lot. I was thinking of adding cleats and boat bumpers to the fenders:black_eyed:

DUDE! An friend of mine just texted me this: This is my Manx! What crazy timing. He says its been in his neighbors yard in Torrance for years, and his son "is going to restore it... one day":mad-new: Ya, right. I have half a mind to shoot him an offer for it. I do have space to park that little guy and it never rains in Cali so...

I'm the one who put the angry lids and SawZall radiused the rear to fit 31" paddle tires off my VW sand-rail. It looked great! but a terrible idea with only a 1835 and maybe 60hp? LOL.

It still has the mark on the muffler from when my giant Mexican buddy (Chupicabra) had to find the coil in the sand and re-mount it (it would fall off about every mile or so). He was wearing a down jacket that got fried on the hot muffler, so when following them at speed, it looked like he was molting.
LOL

This poor Manx saw SO. MUCH. AIRTIME. I thought a surplus altimeter would be fun to have in the dash.

2008 Hummer H3 Alpha. Only slantback version ever made.

An Alpha is a crazy ride man:eagerness: When Guy Tripp opened So. Cal Diesel next door to my shop, I got to see some crazy Duramax stuff! Drags, land speed, and even boats! One of the race trucks was an Alpha with 1500HP 2000ft/lbs, massively supercharged. Not turbos, a belt driven humongous supercharger. So rad.

oh man I'd love to get my hands on a gtv or brera once they're available in the states. Had a 164LS in high school that was nothing but trouble but I didn't care one bit...
